Game

All games will be played no New Inning after 1:10 all weekend or 7 innings

Run Rules will be: 10 after 3 innings, 8 after 4 innings, 6 after 5 innings

The Gauntlet/ISG Spring Nationals Rules of Play

  1. All games played will be No new Inning after 1:10 or 7 innings
  2. Games tied after 7 innings or when time expires will proceed immediately into Iowa Tie Breaker Rules as follows:
  3. 1st extra inning: No outs last batter at 2nd
  4. 2nd extra inning: No outs last 2 batters at 2nd and 3rd
  5. Game ends in tie and revert back to score at end of regulation
  6. Substitution Rules:

10U – Roster Batting and Open Substitution all weekend if desired

12U - Roster Batting and Open Substitution if coaches desire/agree

14U – Standard Batting and Subbing rules unless coaches agree to Open Substitution before the game (optional-not required for both)

  1. USSSA AP Rule:

Teams may choose to have an AP (additional player) in their lineup which allows teams to bat 10 and play any 9 on defense with open subbing between those players. Batting order must always stay the same and teams must start and end the game with the AP in effect. Any open spot in the batting order will result in an out even though you may still be batting 9.

Team may use both an AP and a DH in the same game which allows you to involve 11 players in any given game. The DH and Defo/Flex player are always tied together and are not open to the open subbing pattern allowed with the AP rule. The remaining 9 players are under the Open subbing rule and may be interchanged. The Defo/Flex should be listed in the 11th spot on the lineup card. Subbing and Re-Entry rules apply to the DH and Defo the same as ASA rules. Any remaining subs can be used at any time for the other players in the lineup including the AP.

  1. Runs Ahead Rule: 10 after 3 innings, 8 after 4 innings, 6 after 5 innings
  2. All Umpire decisions Are Final
  3. Tournament Director & Umpires reserve the right to shorten or alter games due to weather or safety concerns.
  4. Dugouts are not assigned, Coin Flip will determine home team
  5. Home Team keeps official scorebook, Visitors to keep ISG scorecard
  6. ISG Scorecards and Final Scores to be turned in at Bracket Boards

The Gauntlet/ ISG Spring Nationals Format

All teams will play their games as assigned in the tournament schedule.

10U teams will be seeded into a double elimination bracket based on pool play. There will be no final “If Game”. Bracket pairings available 30 minutes after last game is completed.

12U & 14U teams will play all their pool games and then an order of finish will be determined for cross-pool playoffs between the top 3 teams in each pool 1’s vs 1’s, 2’s vs 2’s, & 3’s vs 3’s

Pool Finish/Seeding/Placement will be determined as follows:

  1. Win/Loss Record
  2. Head to Head competition between teams
  3. Runs Allowed
  4. Runs Scored
  5. Run Differential (MAX 10 per game)
  6. USSSA Points as of May 25th
  7. Coin Flip

All Tournament Awards Criteria:

Players will be reviewed by ISG staff during games and ISG scorecards will be reviewed to determine the Iowa Sports Group suggestion for All-Tournament Team Awards. Coaches will be consulted for input as well.
