Program times may be changed at the discretion of Meet Management. All participating clubs will be notified of any changes to the program. Coaches will be notified prior to the meet of any changes to the specifications of this meet package, unless such changes can be dealt with at the commencement of the meet without disadvantage to the swimmer.
- ELIGIBILITY:
2.1.Open to all swimmers registered as Competitive in Saskatchewan. This is a closed meet; no swimmers from outside the province can compete in this meet.
2.2.Swimmers must be a minimum 7 years of age as of the first day of competition.
2.3.Swimmer’s age shall be as of the first day of the meet.
2.4.Qualifying period for A Provincials is September 1, 2011.
2.5.Those swimmers that enter the A Provincial side of the meet must have at least one “A” Qualifying Time.
2.6.Swimmers must have equalled or bettered the qualifying times prior to entry deadline.
2.7.Age Group Categories:

2.8.Swimmers are de-qualified from events that they have achieved an “AA” time in. Swimmers who achieve an “AA” Time between the entry deadline and the first day of the meet must be scratched from that event.
2.9.PARA Swimmers will be fully integrated into the meet. To be eligible to swim in “A” Provincials, PARA Swimmers must meet the Saskatchewan “A” time standards respective to the event in their gender and age category
- QUALIFYING TIMES
3.1.There are no qualifying times for Junior Cup
3.2.For “A” Provincials, the qualifying times are Saskatchewan “A” times Short & Long Course Times.
3.3.De-qualifying times are Saskatchewan “AA” Short & Long Course Times. Swimmers who achieve a Short Course OR Long Course “AA” Time in an event from the qualifying period or between the entry deadline and the first day of the meet must be scratched from that event.

3.4.Swimmers will be de-qualified from a leg of a relay based on prior individual performance.
3.5.A swimmer with an "AA" entry time in 50 or 100 stroke, prior to the start of the meet, may not swim that stroke on a relay at "A" Provincial Championships.
3.6.A swimmer that does nothave the “AA” standard in the 50 or 100 of the stroke being swam in the higher age for that relay, is allowed to swim on the relay. i.e.: an 11 year old female has the 11 year old “AA” standard for the 50 and 100 free but does not have the “AA” standard for either of the 50 OR 100 Free 12 year old age category, is allowed to swim on the 11 and 12 year old Free Relay. This rule also applies to the strokes on the Medley Relays.
3.7.A swimmer who achieves an "AA" time in an event at this meet will be permitted to swim on a relay team.
3.8.Entry times will be accepted in either short course or long course. Short course times will be seeded first, then long course times, followed by no-time entries.
3.9.Converted times will NOT be accepted.
- BONUS SWIMS: A PROVINCIALS ONLY
4.1.Bonus swims for swimmers to guarantee that swimmers will have at least 6 swims.
4.2.The 400 Free, 800 Free and 1500 Free and 400 IM may be used as Bonus Swims providing the swimmer has achieved the Bonus Swim entry time standard for that event in their respective age category as per schedule “A”. Meet Management does have the discretion to limit the number of entries in these events should session timelines require to do so.
4.3.Swimmers who have less than 6 qualifying “A” times are eligible for bonus swims based on the following:
1 “A” time +5 Bonus swims
2 “A” times+4 Bonus swims
3 “A” times +3 Bonus swims
4 “A” times +2 Bonus swims
5 “A” times +1 Bonus swims
4.4.For seeding purposes, it is encouraged to submit a time for bonus swims and the box for “bonus” swims in the Hy-tek TM entries MUST be checked off to indicate the entry as a bonus swim.
- ENTRIES AND LIMITATIONS:
5.1.Swimmers can enter as many events as they have qualified for, up to a maximum of 8 individual events plus relays. Maximum 5 individual events per day.
5.2.Swimmers in “A” Provincials must have achieved at least one qualifying standard to enter the Competition.
5.3.Entries must be uploaded to the national meet entries site at: No entries will be accepted from an email.
- RELAY ENTRIES:
6.1.All relay events will be Time Finals
Please Note: Junior Cup swimmers are not eligible to swim on A Provincial Relay Teams.
6.2.Relay swimmers must be properly entered in at least one (1) individual event. EXCEPTION: a club entering only one relay team in an event may bring out “relay only” swimmers to a maximum of 2 per age group to complete a relay team. “Relay only” swimmers must be listed in Hytek as “relay only”. Coaches are to follow the directions in Hytek Team Manager as to how to show Relay Only swimmers.
6.3.Swimmers will be de-qualified from a leg of a relay based on prior individual performance. A swimmer with an "AA" entry time in 50 or 100 stroke for the higher age category of the relay as per point 3.5 above, prior to the start of the meet, may not swim that stroke in a relay at "A" Provincial Championships.
6.4.A swimmer who achieves a "AA" time in an event at this meet will be permitted to swim on a relay team.
6.5.Clubs may enter a maximum of 2 relay teams in any relay event. Meet Management has the discretion to allow clubs to deck enter additional relays as exhibition only; however the additional entries must not create extra heats. Relay deck entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
6.6.There are no qualifying times for relay events. However, to obtain seeding, a team time should be submitted.
6.7.Clubs are encouraged to submit relay names in their Hytek entry file. If they do this then they are not required to submit another relay card during the meet, unless they wish to change names or the order of a swimmer. If name or swimmer order changes are required, new relay cards with the changes will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the session in which the relay event is held.
If clubs did not submit relay names in their Hytek Entry File then relay cards will be required to be completed and submitted within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the Saturday morning session for the relays that will be held in the Saturday Evening Session. If name or swimmer order changes are required, new relay cards with the changes will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the Saturday evening session.
For relays that will be held on Sunday Morning, then relay cards must be submitted by the end of the Saturday evening session. If name or swimmer order changes are required, new relay cards with the changes will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the Sunday morning session.
Failure to provide the above, the relay will be considered exhibition and therefore is not eligible for points and awards.
- DECK ENTRIES:
7.1.Additional swims may be permitted if empty lanes are available, but no additional heats will be created.
7.2.Swimmer/Coach must present late entry fee prior to being assigned a lane.
7.3.The cost of all deck entries will be twice the normal entry fee. Payment in cash or a cheque must accompany the entry when handed to the Clerk of Course or Meet Office.
7.4.These swims are “for time only” (i.e. Exhibition) and the swimmer will not advance to finals. De-qualifying times are still in effect.
- ENTRY DEADLINE
8.1.Entries must be received by the Meet Manager/Entries Chairperson by no later than 11:59 PM Wednesday February 20th, 2013.
8.2.Cheques for entry fees are to be made payable to PRINCE ALBERT SHARKS SWIM CLUB
8.3.Clubs must submit entries by uploading their Hytek Entries File to the national events database at:

9.1.Individual events:$7.00 per swimmer per event.
9.2.Relay Teams:$9.00 per team per event.
9.3.Payment must be received on or before the start of warm-ups on the first day of competition.
9.4.No swimmer/club will be allowed to swim whose entry fees have not been paid.
9.5.Entries Refund Policy: As per Winter Swimming Policy WC-4

- COMPETITION
10.1.As per the event order, Junior Cup and A Provincial events will be swam separately. i.e.: a 10 year old female can NOT be seeded in a senior seeded event.
10.2.The Junior Cup has Time Finals events AND events with heats and finals.
10.3.800 & 1500 Free events are for “A” Provincial swimmers only and will be swum as time Final
10.4.The 400 Free for “A” Provincial swimmers will be swum as heats and finals.
10.5.The 400 Free for Junior Cup will be swum as a Time Final in the Saturday morning session.
10.6.400 IM is for “A” Provincial swimmers only and will be swum as Time Final.
10.7.For events that are time finals only, each event will be swum via the 4 age categories
10.8.All 100m events will be swum as Time Finals by age category and gender.
10.9.For “A” Provincials all 50m and 200m events, as well as the 400 Free, will be swum as heats and finals regardless of the number ofswimmers entered in the event, with the exception of the 200 Fly which will be swum as a Time Final event.
During prelims these events will be swum in an open age category, senior seeded via gender, slowest to fastest.
The finals for these events will be swum via the 3 age categories, so the top 5 in each of the 3 age categories will advance to finals.
There will be one final per age group. There will be NO Consolation Final for any age group.
10.10.100 IM is available for all age categories
10.11.Boys and Girls events will be swam separately for preliminaries, finals and time finals.
- SEEDING:
11.1.The 800m & 1500m Free events will be swum fastest to slowest and will be senior seeded and may be swum two per lane.
11.2.At the discretion of meet management, the 400 free may also be swum two per lane should session timelines require to do so.
11.3.All other events will be swum slowest to fastest.
11.4.In prelims, all 50m and 200m events, as well as the 400 Free for the A Provincials are to be swum as an open age category, senior seeded via gender, slowest to fastest. The finals for the 50m and 200m events will be swum via the 3 age categories. The 400 Free Final will be swum in the 3 “A” Provincial Age Categories.
11.5.The 100m events will be swum as time finals via the 4 age categories.
11.6.There are no separate events PARA swimmers, they will be fully integrated into the meet (no separate heats or finals) therefore they must have achieved a meet qualifying event standard respective for their age and gender. Para swimmers are eligible for all awards
- SCRATCHES:
Scratches for events that are Prelims & Finals Events
12.1.Scratches from Preliminary heats simply create empty lanes and may be made at any time without penalty except loss of entry fee. Clubs are requested to report any scratches 30 minutes into warm-ups on the day the event is to be held.
12.2.The scratch deadline for all events to be swum in the Finals on Saturday night will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Saturday morning session.
12.3.The scratch deadline for all events that are being swum on Sunday will 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Saturday evening session
Scratches for Time Final events
12.4.Scratches from all individual Time Final events must be made 30 minutes into the warm-ups on the day the event is to be held; with the exception of 400 Free in which scratches for Junior Cup are due 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Friday evening session and the 800 Free for “A” Provincials in which scratches are due 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Saturday evening session.
Scratches for Relays
12.5.Scratches for relays must be made 30 minutes into the warm-ups during the session the event is to be held.
ALTERNATE SWIMMERS:
In Finals, if a contestant has not reported to the blocks when the race is called, the Referee shall have the alternate called immediately, who shall become one of the finalists. Alternates MUST report to the Clerk of Course when the event is called and be ready to swim if necessary.
PENALTIES:
Unexcused scratches after the applicable scratch deadline above, and all step-downs, no-shows, unexcused incomplete swims, including relays (as determined by the referee) will result in the offending swimmer or swimmers being scratched from all his/her remaining events, including relays, scheduled for that session. There is no monetary assessment penalty.
- INDIVIUDAL AND RELAY AWARDS: (Medals & Ribbons)
13.1.Individual events: Medals for placing first, second & third. Ribbons for placing fourth to eighth). No separate scoring or awards for PARA Swimmers.
13.2.Relay events: Medals for placing first. Ribbons for placing second and third.
- CLUB AWARDS: (Trophy or plaque)
14.1.Junior Cup - All clubs that have swimmers entered in the Junior Cup side of the competition are eligible for this award based on points as per scoring.
14.2.Open Top Club Award: - A Provincial Results only.
All clubs entered will be eligible based on points as per scoring
14.3.Open Small Club Award: – A Provincial results Only
All Clubs with 15 or fewer swimmers entered will be eligible based on points as per scoring.
- SCORING:
15.1.Individual events for team awards for both Junior Cup and A Provincials: 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
15.2.Relay events for both Junior Cup and A Provincials: 18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2

- MEET SAFETY RULE:

16.1.Current SNC warm-up procedures will be in effect as per Appendix D in the SNC Rulebook
16.2.Entry into the pool must be feet-first at all times during general warm-up.
16.3.During warm-up no swimmer shall enter the water by a dive.
16.4.During the last 20 minutes of warm-up the 2 outside lanes are designated as sprint lanes, meet management has the discretion to open up additional lanes as sprint lanes if required. Diving is permitted in the Sprint lanes. During this period one-way swimming only is allowed. Swimmers must leave the lane after their 25 metre one-way swim.
16.5.Running on deck is not permitted.
16.6.No fins or hand paddles during warm-up.
16.7.It is the coach’s responsibility to inform the swimmers and ensure their discipline and adherence to the MEET SAFETY RULE and to SNC Warm-up Procedures.
- COACHES TECHNCIAL MEETING:
A coaches’ meeting may be held 30 thirty minutes prior to the start of any session, if required.
- PRO SHOP:
There is no pro shop at Frank J. Dunn pool.
