MarineScience 2013

The purpose of this audit tool is to enable schools to compare the requirements of their assessment program with the minimum assessment requirements of the syllabus, and to subsequently consider possible amendments to their school work program.

Verification requirements
A minimum of four instruments and a maximum of six instruments from Year 12 only including:
  • one extended marine investigation (EMI)or action research assessing all three dimensions
  • one supervised extended response test
  • evidence of each instrument assessing at least two dimensions with each dimension assessed at least three times.

Extended response
May assess:
  • Knowledge and understanding
  • Investigation and analysis
  • Evaluation and communication.

Forms:
  • Extended research response
  • Extended marine investigation
  • Action research

Conditions:
  • written: 1000–1500 words
  • spoken: 4–5 minutes
  • multimodal: 5–7 minutes
