Arts Access Corrections Leadership Award 2017

This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a New Zealand prison or Community Corrections site that has used the arts as a tool to support the rehabilitation of offenders or their reintegration into the community.

To submit a nomination form in NZ Sign Language: Please complete A1 and A2 of the application form. Send your short video answering questions one to four to Jacqui via the channels above. The video should be no longer than three minutes in length.

Arts Access Aotearoa will shortlist the nominations. An industry judging panel will make the final decisions.

Shortlisted nominees may be asked to send more supporting information for the judging panel.

We will confirm receipt of your nomination and eligibility within one week of receiving it. Late or incomplete nominations will not be accepted.

be a New Zealand prison or Community Corrections site, managed by the the Department of Corrections

have been directly involved in the delivery of the arts as a

rehabilitative/reintegration tool between January 2016 and the

nomination closing date of 3 April 2017.

B. What the judges want to know

1. Write a brief statement telling us why the prison or Community Corrections should receive the Arts Access Corrections Leadership Award. What makes its contribution outstanding?

3. Describe the nominee’s art activities and achievements (including dates) in using the arts as a tool to support the rehabilitation/reintegration of prisoners (e.g: creative writing, craft, kapa haka, performance, carving, sculpture, and painting).

4. Outline how the nominee provides a model for others wanting to improve their use of the arts as a tool for rehabilitation and reintegration. Include examples of engagement and/or partnership with the community and/or local iwi.

Examples of support material:

·  Documentation such as publications, publicity material, media clippings, evaluation reports and photographs.

·  Examples of the quality of art work produced (e.g. images, CD/DVD/ YouTube link). Only one DVD or CD will be accepted.

·  Examples of engagement and/or partnership with the community and/or local Iwi.
