Talbot Village Trust awaits new applications
Talbot Village Trust, a local grant giving charity that supports causes in Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole, East Dorset and the Isle of Purbeck, has announced it is once again seeking new applications for grants and donations.
Over the past two years, Talbot Village Trust has awarded more than £2million to causes in the community, education, youth and church sectors. The Trust recently donated more than £50,000 to Hillbourne and District Community Association for the committee to repair the badly damaged roof on its community centre, as well replace the windows and redecorate the interior.
The Trust, which meets biannually to select donations or loan recipients, also awarded funds of more than £15,000 to the AIM Arts Academy project, which supports 14 to 18 year olds not in education or training from Bournemouth and Poole, providing a course that incorporates music, technology and business skills alongside maths and English.
Christopher Lees, Chair of the Trustees, said: “The Trust sprung from the imagination of the Talbot sisters Georgina and Charlotte in the 1850s. The sisters created Talbot Village from 465 acres of land, on which they built farms, a church and a school; providing paid agricultural work to those affected by poverty.
“More than 150 years later, we are working to maintain their legacy by investing in important causes across the area. From churches to watersports organisations and even marching bands, no cause is too small – we look at every application individually and award funds based on the ways in which either a donation or loan can benefit the wider community.”
Applicants wishing to receive funding can visit www.talbotvillagetrust.co.uk where they can find out more information about the charity and how it awards funds.

Note to editors:
The Talbot Village Trust is the legacy of two sisters who founded Talbot Village in the mid 19th century as a reaction to rural poverty. The village provided housing, a school and a church as well as agricultural land to grow food. Thanks to the sisters’ philanthropic approach and a careful investment programme, the Trustees have been able to maintain and increase the value of the fund.
