2011 CCCAA Player, Pitcher, Coach of the Year and All-State & Region Teams Announced
The 2011 California Community College Athletic Association Player, Pitcher and Coach of the Year along with the All-State and All-Region teams were announced on Saturday afternoon. Antelope Valley’s Adriana Perez and College of the Siskiyous’ McKaylee Pittman were named the CCCAA Player’s of the Year, while Santa Barbara City College’s Kailey Snyder and Sacrament City College’s Courtney Allen were named the Pitcher’s of the Year. Santa Barbara’s Paula Congleton and College of San Mateo’s Nicole Borg rounded out the top honors, by nabbing Coach of the Year nods.
Perez picked up the nod after helping lead Antelope Valley to a 32-6 record, #6 seed in Southern California, and a Foothill Conference Championship. Perez batted .516 with 46 runs scored, 59 RBI’s, and 16 home runs. Pittman meanwhile terrorized Northern California pitching by batting .496 with 37 runs scored, 10 home runs, and State leading 68 RBI’s. Pittma’s Siskiyous squad went 34-5, picked up the #2 seed in the North, and won a Golden Valley Conference Championship.
Snyder posted a stellar 2011 campaign in the circle for the Vaqueros of Santa Barbara City College. In 32 appearances, Snyder went 27-4 with one save, 26 complete games, all while posting a 0.94 ERA. Snyder also struck out 233 batters on the year, compared to just 28 walks. Santa Barbara won the WSC Gold Division Championship with a 31-5 record, and were rewarded with the #10 seed in the South. Allen dominated opposing batters in 2011 for Sacramento City College. Allen went 18-5 with one save in 2011, posting a 0.63 ERA with 169 strikeouts to her name. Sacramento City went 31-9 in 2011 and finished second place in the Big 8 Conference and picked up the #5 seed in the North.
Congleton helped guide her Vaqueros to their best record in program history in 2011. With the help of Pitcher of the Year Snyder, Congleton’s squad went 31-5 and won its first ever Western State Conference Gold Division Championship. Borg led the Bulldogs of College of San Mateo to a 26-11 mark, #10 seed in the North, and Coast Conference North Division Second Place finish. It’s the fifth straight year that Borg has the Bulldogs in the post-season.
