Safety and Fire Considerations for Solar PV – FREE Workshop

The NY Sun PV Trainers Network is sponsoring this workshop to provide first responders and emergency personnel, such as firefighters and rescue personnel, with training on safety precautions and fire code considerations with respect to the recognition and disabling of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Main topic areas will include solar technology identification on the premises, disconnecting methods, and code requirements for roof coverage by modules. Additionally, this training will address access to safe walking space, access to ventilation, location and identification of disconnect switches, DC and AC system conduits and conductors, and battery backup systems.

Solar in Historic Districts - FREE Webinar, Tuesday June 30th

The NY-Sun PV-Trainers Network will be hosting a Solar in Historic Districts webinar on June 30th from 1:00-2:00pm. Julian Adams from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will be providing a presentation on how to become a Certified Local Government (CLG). Topics will include, the importance of becoming a CLG, and how the extra resources received support solar development. A review of applicable federal and state rehabilitation tax credits will also be discussed, in addition to examples of improper installations in historic districts.

Zoning for Solar Energy – FREE Webinar, Thursday, July 9th

Pace Land Use Law Center on behalf of the NY-Sun PV Trainers Network will be hosting a Zoning for Solar webinar on July 9th, from 1:00-2:30pm. This presentation will review strategies and best practices for developing a clear, comprehensive, and enforceable solar regulatory framework. The workshop will present sample provisions for permitted uses, dimensional standards, development standards and definitions. In addition, optional provisions, such as solar access and solar ready home requirements will be reviewed.
