Juried Undergraduate Exhibition

Calling all undergraduate artists! The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art (AKMA) is presenting an excellent opportunity to place your artwork on view in a nationally recognized museum.

Eligibility:

The exhibition is open to students enrolled in undergraduate programs in the United States during the 2016-2017 academic year. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. All artwork must be the original work of the submitting artist and created within a year of submission.

Guidelines:

· All media (2D and 3D) are eligible. Maximum size: 60” in length, width and height. 50 pound maximum for all works. No artwork may be suspended from the ceiling.

· A non-refundable fee of $10 will entitle the artist to submit up to three (3) artworks. This fee can be paid via check, PayPal at albrecht-kemper.org, or by calling 816-233-7003.

· Artists are permitted to list their works for sale. The AKMA takes a 30% commission on all sales during the exhibition.

· Artists will be responsible for all shipping costs to and from the museum. Accepted entries may be hand delivered on the specified date as well.

Calendar:

January 31, 2017, 11:59pm: Registration deadline (online submission or postmark for mailed entries)

March 3, 2017: Notification of results sent via email

March 31, 2017: Shipped artworks must be received at AKMA

April 2, 2017, 12-4pm: Hand delivery of artwork to the AKMA

April 7, 2017, 4-7pm: Opening reception for exhibition

May 14, 2017: Exhibition closes; return of shipped work within 10 days

May 15, 2017: Pick up of hand-delivered work

Submission of Images:

Digital images must be .jpg or .tiff files, at least 300 dpi, and approximately 4x6 inches.

Files should be titled in following format: (Last name)_(First initial)_(Title).jpg.

Example: Smith_J_RedRose.jpg

The AKMA reserves the right to use accepted images for publicity purposes.

Jurors:

Adam Clague is a full-time artist based in the Kansas City, Missouri area. His oil paintings have received national and international awards and press. Adam’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and in Canada and Spain. The artist received a Master’s degree in Fine Art from Pensacola Christian College and has taught art for nearly ten years. Adam loves sharing the beauty he sees in Creation and strives to create paintings that inspire and uplift.

Robin VanHoozer has experience as being both artist and art educator. After thirty-one years as both an art teacher and artist, Robin retired from teaching in 2013 to make her artistic work her full time career. Robin received her MA in Studio Art/Painting from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She has exhibited locally throughout Missouri and Kansas as well as nationally in Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Washington, D.C. Recently Robin’s Common Ground series was the subject of her solo exhibition at the Kansas City Artists Coalition.

Megan Wyeth has been an active photographer for over 30 years after studying photography at the Kansas City Art Institute and art history at the University of Kansas. Her photographs are part of private and public collections around the world, and she maintains an active schedule of exhibitions, commercial work and publishing.
