Purpose
The Operational Risk Officer will collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer to execute the Operational Risk Management Program, with focus to our Investment subsidiary, Local Pensions Partnership Investments Ltd. The position will play a key role in the delivery and maintenance of various components of the operational risk framework including the risk and control self-assessments, key risk indicators, and reporting and analysis for business lines.Will work closely with business lines and functional areas, as well as their support functions, to ensure that they are sufficiently identifying, monitoring and managing their operational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support functional teams and managers in the reporting of operational risk events and ensure that action plans are decided and implemented
- Establish the 2nd level of defence control plan
- Perform periodic process reviews on various processes or controls, report the results to senior management and work with teams to establish any remediation actions necessary
- Assist in the development and implementation of the risk management function, including implementation of processes, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks
- Assist in the monitoring of major and critical risk issues
- Support the continuous review and improvement of the operational risk management methods of the organisation in accordance with regulatory expectations and industry best practices
- Assist in the collection/centralisation and development (where needed) of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), where appropriate
- Partner and collaborate with business line management and other support and control areas
- Ensure proactive follow-up of audit recommendations
- Participate in special projects as assigned, by the Chief Risk Officer
Person Specification
The role holder will need to demonstrate the following qualities:
- At least five years of relevant experience in risk management, control function, preferably with relevant exposure to an FCA regulated business
- Demonstrable advanced knowledge and skills in carrying out Business Analysis including carrying out audits and compliance with demonstrable involvement in training initiatives
- High commitment to quality with focus on accuracy and excellent attention to detail is required
- Ability to evaluate issues and proactively suggest solutions
- Strongly developed customer focus and the ability to proactively support the achievement of Group initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with the ability to deliver presentations/training explaining complex issues, and taking feedback, tailored to the audience
- Good level of numerical, analytical and report writing skills, including the ability to use MS office tools to assist in the communication of key messages to facilitate decisions
- A proactive, self-motivated team player who has the ability to manage a high workload with multiple deadlines ensuring expectations are managed throughout
