ITX is one of Asia’s leading recognition programs for the most progressive and effective enterprise IT deployments, and is co-managed by analyst firm IDC Asia/Pacific and the publisher ofMIS AsiaFairfax Business Media Asia (FBM Asia).
The project-based awards were presented at the CIO Summit and IT Excellence Awards 2013 event in Singapore today. More than 197 entries from government agencies and leading players in the financial services, manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods and transportation industries were gathered from Brunei, China (including Hong Kong SAR), India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. In the end, 51 nominated projects by 37 organizations made it to the shortlist.
ITX project leader andMIS Asiamagazine Editor, Teng Fang Yih, said: “There were almost 200 nominations documenting some of the most impressive ICT initiatives we have ever seen—impressive in terms of their scale and more importantly their positive impact on, not just the organizations behind them, but also their industries and sectors. Unfortunately, in the end, only seven organizations–truly the best in each category–can emerge as winners.”
“This award recognizes both the individual contribution of the CIO and the management team for having the foresight to take the steps they have taken. It also highlights the contribution of the entire IS/IT team in understanding the needs of their business users and delivering the most effective technology and information delivery models to them,” said Eva Au, Managing Director, IDC Asia/Pacific.
The winners were chosen by an expert panel of independent judges, including members of the CIO, other senior ICT management and analyst communities, in a process that lasted several months. This panel consists of the following: Sandra Ng, Group Vice President, Practice Group, IDC Asia/Pacific; Claus Mortensen, Director, Emerging Technology Research, IDC Asia/Pacific; Joe Chiu, Vice President of Corporate IT, Changi Airport Group; Alvin Khoo, Regional IT Director, DSM Nutritional Products AP; Michael Lee, Chief Information Officer, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts; William Ross, Director of Information Technology, Motorola Mobility; Associate Professor Daniel Tan, Director–Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching, Nanyang Technological University; and, Teo Chin Seng, Executive Director, SMU iCity Laboratories.
