UPCOMING EVENTS- May 31-June 1 District Art Show

This week we are working with long I spelling patterns, -igh, -y, and -ie: my, try, sky, fly, by, dry, pie, cried, night, light
We are learning how to read and write the following sight words: across, head, second, heard, ball, should, cried, large
*Please have your child read the Lesson 28 online readers until fluent
Move Up Day for 2016-2017
Move up day is June 9th. Currently, we are in the process of hiring a teacher for second grade and a teacher for a second/third grade blend. Your child will find out who their teacher is on move-up day.
Library Books due June 9th
ALL library books need to be returned by June 10th. Please make sure your child’s bookis returned or paid for before the deadline. / Farm Field Trip-Volunteer Opportunity
We will be visiting High Wire Farm on Monday June 12thth. Look for a permission slip coming home on June 5th. We need volunteers to help with supervising students during our farm activities. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are available to join us! If you are able to come, please make sure to fill out the volunteer application paperwork. Parents, we want to let you know that we are so very thankful for the Farm to School grant that has paid for this field trip.
Homework
- Fluency practice (spelling words, high frequency words) or comprehension practice
- Journeys leveled readers/decodable readers
- Read with/to your child daily for 20 or more minutes and write your initials on the reading log
