PRESCHOOL YEAR 2 – OVERVIEW FOR MONTH 1

Neuroscience and Child Development: Scientists believe that the right side of our brain helps us think about music and rhythm, colours, sounds, tonality and shapes. It controls the left side of the brain.

The left side is believed to be more analytical - math, processes language (speech), rationalizes what we hear (logic).

Research has indicated that the more we learn how to stimulate left-right brain connectivity in children the better learners they will be, e.g. songs help engage the left and right brain connectivity.

KKEL methodology is based on the Multiple Intelligences Theory which ensures whole- brain learning. The different parts of the brain are used and do not limit any child to a preconceived notion of how smart they are. Our curriculum emphasizes real - life learning not memorization of information. We celebrate learning with our children and let them know that their potential is limitless by incorporating multiple intelligences, interdisciplinary themes and Bloom’s Taxonomy.

In this unit, children will learn about –

The seasons that they experience around the year

Observe changes in weather conditions

Investigate how people adapt to the changes in weather (food and clothing and shelter)
