Job Description
2 x Site Assistants
Location:Working acrossAll Five Lamps delivery sites in Thornaby and Stockton-on-Tees
Hours:2 posts at 12.5 hours per week:
1 post (07:30 – 10:00 Monday to Friday)
1 post (16:30 – 17:30 Monday to Thursday; 16:00 – 17:00 Friday and 09:00 – 17:00 Saturday (30 minute lunch)
Responsible to:Director of Corporate Services
Salary Scale:National Minimum Wage
Job Purpose:To be responsible for all security and health and safety procedures within Five Lamps buildings and general repairs and maintenance of all Five Lamps centres
Must have a full driving licence and access to a car
Contract Period:Permanent
Duties & Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the opening and closing of the Five Lamps Centres on a daily basis and dealing with all security matters together with the contents, setting of alarm systems, routine checking of internal doors, windows, shutters and other means of access, prior to leaving the premises
- To act as designated key holder to Five Lamps premises and be available to respond to alarm call-outs, as required
- To carry out routine health and safety checks and procedures and be aware of authorised actions in the event of fire, gas escape, accident, flood, breaking and entering, and, in furtherance of this duty, to be aware of the location and operation of the water and gas mains stop cocks and the main electrical fuse boxes
- To make regular inspections of the premises and draw to the attention of the Director of Corporate Services any repairs or maintenance work required
- To carry out routine repairs and maintenance including painting and basic joinery, at the Five Lamps Centres as required
- To act as a designated First Aider at any of Five Lamps Premises, as required
- To carry out routine and non-routine opening of Five Lamps premises, as and when required
- To report suspicious persons or behaviour to the Director of Corporate Services or Police, as appropriate
- To ensure that all paths and access to the building are free from ice, debris and hazards and that all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean
- To ensure that all rubbish and broken furniture is removed from the building and taken to bins or to a safe storage area so that it can be removed as soon as practicable
- To carry out “spot” cleaning of premises, as required outside of the cleaning contract during normal working hours (e.g. accidental spillages, vandalism, breakages)
- To ensure that adequate supplies of personal hygiene products e.g. toilet rolls, liquid soap etc. are available and liaise with staff at Eldon Street for ordering stocks as required
- To do the post run between buildings and take post to the post office when required
- To carry out the porterage of goods and materials and the movement of furniture and equipment; taking delivery of goods and materials for distribution or storage
- To set up rooms and arrange/rearrange furniture as required using the onsite booking diary
- To attend appropriate courses for staff training and development
- To implement Five Lamps policies on Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety at all times
- To provide cover for reception duties and answering telephone enquiries in the absence of the day Receptionist
- To manage the room booking diary in the absence of the day Receptionist and to control and manage any cash payments for room bookings and rents where required
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required within the scope of the post
