This is a 2 ½ hour seminar aimed at all teaching professionals within both the primary and post-primary sectors to include class teacher, subject teachers, resource/learning support teachers, Principals, HSCI, Year Heads and Guidance Counsellors. More specifically, the seminar aims to:-

(a)  Look at recent legislation and report that refer to transition.

(b)  Explore the difficulties pupils with SEN may have at the time of transition.

(c)  Suggest activities and strategies which may ease transitional anxieties and difficulties (from a primary and a post primary perspective).

(d)  Provide participants with information on further reading, resources and materials to assist them in the management of the transition process.

Each participating teacher will receive a booklet detailing activities that can be used at the time of transition as well as giving specific references to guidelines, reports and legislation in this area.
