Designed to familiarize the student with fundamental terminology and concepts of microcomputers, their operating systems and disk management, as well as major production applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database management systems, and includes desktop publishing, graphics, Internet, and data communications. COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Reading: readings from the textbook and possible supplementary readings from other sources may be required by the instructor.
  2. Class Discussion: student participation in class discussion may be required by the instructor. Participation in class discussion may be used by an instructor to evaluate student performance.
  3. Writing: essay questions on exams or other written assignments may be required by the instructor.
  4. Testing: A minimum of 4 theory-based exams and a minimum of three application-based exams may be required by the instructor. The theory-based tests may be subjective or objective and may consist of any combination of multiple-choice, matching fill-in-the blank, or essay questions.
  5. Service learning: service learning or some sort of community engagement projects may be utilized by the instructor. These projects must have identifiable learning outcomes.

METHOD OF EVALUATION:

Instructors must provide class information sheets (class syllabus), which specify course requirements. Class information sheets must clearly state the instructor’s method of evaluation.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

Although attendance may not be used in the determination of grades, regular attendance is expected. Class information sheets must clearly state the instructor’s attendance policy.
