Audio Notetaker

Audio Notetaker allows a user to create, navigate, annotate, and organise digital audio recordings. Accompanying notes or presentation slides or can be included with the Audio Notetaker file.

How to…

Record into AudioNotetaker

You can record input from a microphone or from content playing through your computer’s speakers

·  Click the drop-down arrow next to the Record button on the toolbar

·  Choose the input source (Mic, Audio Output)

View a Recording

·  Speech is indicated by coloured segments called chunks; pauses are indicated by the gaps between chunks.

Navigate a Recording

·  Click on a chunk with the mouse or press the arrow keys on the keyboard to move through the chunks.

·  Press the Play button on the toolbar or press Spacebar to hear the speech. Press Spacebar again to pause.

Split Audio into Sections

A long recording can be split into sections to make navigation and organisation easier.

·  Position the cursor where you want to create the new section and click the Insert Section Break button or press the F12 key.

Colour-code Chunks & Sections

Colour can be useful to highlight significant points in the recording.

·  Click and drag over the chunk(s).

·  Click the colour from the colour key at the right of the screen OR type the number that corresponds to the colour (if shown)

·  Apply colour to sections by the same method as chunks
Note: The Colour Key can be edited

Import a Recording

Useful when you have used another recording device

·  Click the Import button on the toolbar

then click Import Audio…

Import Additional Information

PowerPoint slides, PDFs and images can be imported alongside the audio

·  Click the Import button on the toolbar

then click Import Slides for PowerPoint or PDF; click Import Images for jpeg, bmp, etc.

Create Notes

·  While recording or listening to playback, just start typing- notes will automatically appear in the text pane.
