  1. Meeting called to order by Patricia Uber at approximately 9:21 am, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
  1. Roll Call of Officers

Officers present:

President – Patricia Uber, Coral Springs

Vice President – Kimberley Sibner, Sunrise

Secretary – Clearvens Jean Baptiste, Coral Springs

Treasurer – Shelley Sarros, Hallandale Beach

Welcome introduction made by John E. Brooks, Chief of Police, Sunrise Police Department.

  1. Training Presentation:

Joe Urbano, Enforcement Supervisor and Jeannie Terwilliger, Records Supervisor for Broward County Records, Taxes & Treasury Division presented “Broward County Records Division-Taxes and Liens”. Topics discussed included a review of their Division’s role in collecting taxes from businesses, how to navigate their website, and how to track property owners. There was also an overview of “sovereign citizens” issues, the recording process and lien laws. The presentation ended with an informative question and answer session.

  1. Treasurer’s Report: was read by Shelley Sarros.

Expenses paid were $190.67:

January meeting supplies $185.06; office supplies $5.61

Income was $1,755.50:

Membership dues collected $1,740.00; raffle $15.50

This left us with a bank balance of $3,536.97, with cash on hand of $608.16, totaling $4,145.13

  1. Old & New Business:
  1. Pat reminded members their GCACE membership is due February 1, 2012.
  2. After April 1, 2012 unpaid members will no longer receive CEHs and will not be on the sign in sheet.
  3. Pat noted we will be selling ticket to the annual holiday luncheon in September. The luncheon will be held at the same location as last year and tickets will remain at $7.00 for paid members.
  4. Pat mentioned that the board met and discussed the upcoming FACE Conference scheduled for June 16-19, 2012.
  5. GCACE will offer two (2) tuition only scholarships. Interested members need to send a letter to the board and can’t have been awarded a scholarship within the past two years. They will also need to man the GCACE table as needed.
  6. The board also decided to purchase GCACE promotional items including a banner for meetings and conferences.
  7. Hollywood is hiring at $34,000, also Sunny Isles and Aventura. All are on the GCACE website.
  8. Pat said she has confirmed the remaining locations for the rest of the year, will have them put on the website. All the speakers are confirmed except two.
  9. Pat reminded members to visit the GCACE website, the IOG asks the board to place pertinent items on the website, the link is always in the emails and we gave out cards.
  10. Next month is “Call Before you Dig” in Hallandale
