VACANCY: LECTURER IN ACADEMIC LITERACY

(Total remuneration package: R266 484 – R355 312 p.a. – employer contributions in respect of benefits included)

Minimum requirements:

·  MA degree in Afrikaans or Afrikaans and Dutch or in Applied Linguistics

·  Approximately three years’ experience in teaching Academic Literacy or a language at tertiary level

·  Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), as well as email and internet

·  Good communication skills (verbal and written), as well as the ability to teach in Afrikaans and English

·  The ability to function effectively as part of a team

·  Good organisational and administrative skills

·  The ability to function effectively under pressure and in a multicultural environment

·  Good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation

Experience in teaching Academic Literacy or a language at tertiary level through the medium of Afrikaans will serve as a strong recommendation.

A proven ability in research on language instruction will serve as a strong recommendation, as the incumbent must have a research orientation with view to engaging in research that is conducted in this centre and in the research unit Languages and literature in the SA context.
