Job Title: Child Nutrition Coordinator
Reports to:Assistant Superintendent

Position Summary:To provide each school child with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring.
Qualifications/Job Requirements:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalency/Bachelors Degree preferred
- Required state license, health and/or certification, food handlers permit
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding Child Nutrition Programs
- Other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring bids by law or Board Policy.
- Purchases and maintains an inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain a coordinated inventory control program for Child Nutrition.
- Plan and supervise the preparation and serving of menus at all school sites, to ensure a program of high quality meals for the district.
- Plan and check menus to ensure State and Federal regulations are followed.
- Keep patrons and the public informed of the menus and services offered by the school cafeterias and of the health and educational benefits gained by children through participation in the school food service program.
- Assume responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of Child Nutrition employees to meet the needs of all school facilities of the district.
- Oversee the recruitment, recommendation for employment and assignment of all child Nutrition personnel.
- Inspect facilities, equipment and work procedures at Child Nutrition sites on a regular basis to ensure that high standards of workmanship, sanitation, safety and security are maintained.
- Oversee a preventative maintenance/replacement program and keep appropriate records and reports for such equipment.
- Maintain safety standards in conformance with local, state and federal regulations and provide ongoing employee training.
- Evaluate department personnel in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Implement and properly monitor all state and Federal regulations that govern the operation of the Muskogee Public School District I-20 Child Nutrition Department.
- Attend appropriate district, state and national level meetings and keep informed of the latest trends, development and products in the areas of nutrition, menu planning, food storage equipment and supplies.
- Promote a positive image of the school district and work with staff to develop and communicate defined standards of conduct which encourages positive and productive behavior.
- Standardizes cafeteria accounting procedures in cooperation with the Chief Finance Officer’s office.
- Supervises the planning and preparation of ay special meals required for district-sponsored events.
- Prepares specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring such bids by law or Board policy.
- Properly submit all reports, as needed, for the operation of the Child Nutrition Department.
- Performa all other duties necessary to fulfill the functions of the department or which may be assigned by the Chief Finance Officer and/or the Superintendent.
