BETA CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

Convention News:
· We had a WONDERFUL time on the trip to Nashville for the Jr. Beta Convention. The sponsors and chaperones were so impressed with the excellent behavior and effort shown by our Betas, and can’t wait until next year.
· Shout out to Brandi Baxa for bringing home 2nd place in the poetry competition. Way to go, Brandi! We are so proud of you!
· The time to prepare for next year’s convention is now! (We’re talking to you, 7th graders!) If you have any great ideas, or saw competitions you would like to compete in at convention, make sure to mention them to Mrs. Bankston. We will begin planning and fundraising this spring for the 2017 trip!
Club News:
· Next club meeting is Wednesday 12/14/16 from 2:30-3:30
· At this meeting, we will work on our December service project (see below), and have a little holiday celebration!
· Bring a snack to share to the holiday party on 12/14. We will provide drinks and paper products.
Service Opportunities:
· December
o Individual—see Mrs. Johnson to help with turkeys and feathers with the canned food drive for service hours
o Group—“Healing Hands for Woodmore”
§ OMS will be collecting gloves, Hershey’s kisses, and copies of “The Kissing Hand” (a picture book by Audrey Penn) for classrooms at Woodmore Elementary.
§ We would like for each classroom to receive a copy of the book, and every student to receive a pair of gloves filled with kisses, and a handwritten note.
§ You can earn service hours by: making posters advertising the event, helping collect and prepare baggies for students. See the back of this flyer for what should go on your poster.
