A Symbiosis Role-Play Activity
Symbiosis is defined as a close ecological relationship between the individuals of two (or more) species. There are several types of symbiotic relationships. First, in your groups, look up the description of each of the relationships listed below. Then, depending on the example of symbiosis your teacher assigns, come up with a way to “act it out” for the class.

Skit 1
3 students required
Student A: The school Bully
Student B: the school Bully’s sidekick
Student C: a scared little freshman
The scene: act out a scene in which the bully and his sidekick harass and extort money or homework, etc from the scared freshman.
Skit 2
2 students required
Student A: a great math student
Student B: a great English Student
Scene: Student A has written a paper that needs to be edited for a major grade in English. Student B has a huge math test this week. They both decide to help each other by using their academic strengths to solve their problems.
Skit 3
2 students required
Student A: the good listener who gives great advice
Student B: the upset friend who has just had a fight with (significant other, parent, or teacher)
Scene: The upset friend brings the situation to the listening friend who listens to the drama and gives great advice BUT DOES NOT get caught up in the drama.
Skit 4
4 students required (must be 1 male and 3 females or vice versa)
Females: girlfriends
Male: the boyfriend of all the females
Scene: The females discuss their new boy friends then realize that they are talking about the same guy! He enters the room and they fight over him.
Skit 5
2 students required
Student A: the bum cousin
Student B: the responsible cousin
Scene: The bum cousin has been living with the responsible cousin for 6 months and has no job and has not paid for anything! The responsible cousin is upset about the cable bill (too many PPVs) the long showers ( no hot water left and bills for water and electric are high), used cell minutes, and THE FOOD expenses.
