l Don’t wait for others to initiate interaction (e.g. asking favorite song, praying).
l Turn down the TV volume
l When patients is asked for a favorite, be prepared to suggest one.
Ministering to Patients:
l Be willing to enter a room
l Judge if the room is conducive to visiting (patient sleeping or avoiding eye contact?)
l Help hand out Steps to Christ
l If there are enough singers, briefly stay behind & talk with a patient.
l If a patient begins to cry, touch them sympathetically on the shoulder or hand.
While on the Unit:
l Respect the work environment.
l Wash your hands if you recently touched a patient.
