Engineering Project Director/RF Engineer

I am currently serving as Engineering Project Director for a GSM/UMTS/LTE operator in Wisconsin.

I perform a variety of tasks from Frequency Planning, Backhaul Planning, Capacity Planning, Data Planning and well as Network Design, Optimization and Supervise Field Technicians and Network Performance Engineers. I have a very strong technical background as an engineer with a variety of experience from construction, installation, to commissioning optimization as well as daily operations including analysis of network performance. Designed and coordinated several in- building coverage applications.

2009 to Present

Engineering Project Director (Consulting Manager)

2005 to 2009

Director of Network Design

Bug Tussel Wireless, LLC located in Green Bay Wisconsin. Perform all technical activities from network issues through customer support issues. Perform all Network Planning using planning tools for both GSM UMTS as well as LTE. Coordinate installation of T-1’s, DS-3’s to OC-3/12’s. Current network is 250 sites with all growth and maturation accomplished with zero blocking levels as well as low drop call percentages. Monitor daily data from data trends to voice as well as data capacity at all sites in addition to compiling QoS statistics and analyze drive test data ensuring network optimization. I coordinate new technology vendors from base stations to microwave solutions and fiber optics. I currently use Athena Predictive RF Planning and Simulation Tool and Wizard and I am familiar with MapInfo and PlaNet. The current network is primarily Nokia Base Station Equipment for GSM and Alcatel Lucent for UMTS and 4G LTE. I am also very familiar with E911 phase II requirements as well as installation and coordination of network elements for LMU installation and AGPS. I provide search ring data for future sites and planning to the construction staff. Complete all correspondence and license information with the FCC and provide construction updates in accordance with FCC requirements.

2000 to 2005

Technical Training Manager/Project Manager

Avitec, AB located in Stockholm Sweden. My primary responsibility was to provide training courses around the world for mobile operators engineering staff. I developed full training curriculum for RF Engineering staffs both inside and outside the company. Training was on the implementation and planning Avitec equipment in the network from rural coverage to in-building solutions. Calculation of link budgets as well as optimization of the network. Additionally I taught basic antenna theory course for network engineers.

1976 to 2000

Electronics Technician

United States Navy Submarine Force at various locations. I was the Communications Officer on US Navy Submarines as well as a Trainer for Electronics Technicians. I did all frequency planning for several deployments to the Persian Gulf as well as other destinations. Supervised a Department of 16 men as well as coordinated the preventative maintenance system. I retired from the US Navy in January of 2000 after 24 years of honorable service.
