Classroom Procedures for Marketing Education

Procedure – A method or process for how things are to be done. Procedures are for your benefit. They will help you do your work with less confusion and thus help you to succeed.

  1. Entering the room – Enter the classroom quietly and go directly to your assigned seat and get ready for class to begin.
  1. Getting to work – When the bell rings, begin working on the task written on the board.
  1. Making up work when absent – Go to the white notebook labeled “MAKE-UP WORK” and find all assignments missed. Each day’s assignment will be placed in that notebook in chronological order. It is your responsibility to get the work and turn it in to me. Likewise, if you miss a test it is your responsibility to get a Prime Time pass and make it up. There will be a 20% deduction for late work!
  1. Quieting the class – There will be times when you are working diligently and I will need to give you additional information. My signal for needing your attention is “May I have your attention please”. Your response is to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN
  1. Dismissal from class – When the bell rings, it signals me to end class. If I am still teaching, I will finish the thought and make sure I have reminded you of any homework, deadlines etc. Your signal to leave is … “Have a nice day!”
  1. Finishing early – If you finish a classroom assignment or test early, please read from one of the business periodicals, work on other homework or work on a practice ACT site. Talking to your neighbor should be reserved for after class so as not to disturb those who are still working.
  1. Restroom privileges – When asking permission to go to the restroom or get a drink of water, please fill out your agenda (in ink) and raise your agenda.
  1. Sharpening pencils – If you need to sharpen your pencil in the middle of taking notes, please do so without interrupting class. * Only one person at a time is allowed at the pencil sharpener.
  1. Working in groups – Get into your groups as they are assigned quickly and quietly. Everyone in the group should be giving input and ideas on the project. Everyone should be treated with respect and on task. *I will monitor groups, give input and answer questions as necessary.
  1. Praising student performance – When a student comes up with a brilliant answer/idea or does an outstanding job on their work, I’ll say “Let’s give em a hand.” Your job is to clap twice, pause, clap three times and yell “Woot” in unison.
  1. Internet use – Remember no games, no YouTube videos, no personal e-mail and no inappropriate sites!
  1. Leaving the room – Prior to leaving the classroom, make sure the book assigned to your desk is in its’ proper place. Take your belongings and trash with you when you go .

Food – No food is allowed in this classroom! We don’t want mice and will be too busy to eat during this class except for special occasions. You may bring bottled water or soft drinks to class. No glass bottles or cups!! And please don’t leave them in our desks or on our floor, or you will lose this privilege.
