Salem City Councilor Kate Tarter has been awarded a 2007 Regional Oregon Governor’s Volunteer Award. Councilor Tarter won this award in recognition for her years of leadership and positive results in her neighborhood and throughout the Salem community. While her efforts have been diverse, it is her association with the City of Salem’s park system that was noted as exemplary. Councilor Tarter was recently appointed to the City Council as the representative of Ward 5.

The awards – presented by Oregon Volunteers!, the State Commission for Voluntary Action and Service – recognize volunteers and volunteer programs that have demonstrated dedication, commitment, and determination in promoting and supporting volunteerism throughout Oregon and have worked to strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for Oregon residents through service.

The award will be presented on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Salem Conference Center. The conference center is located at 200 Commercial Street SE in downtown Salem.

Tickets are $28 each or $200 for a table of eight and can be purchased online at www.oregonvolunteers.org
