The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Forgive us, Lord, for our inconsistencies:
We say we believe in God, yet we doubt God’s promises.
We say that in God we trust, yet we worry and try to manage our own affairs.
We say that we love God, yet we do not obey Him.
We say that God has answers to all our problems, yet we do not consult Him.
Forgive us, Lord, for our littleness of faith and our willful pride that ignores the way, the truth and the life. Show us the things that need to be changed and help us to change them.
Bless us now and always. Amen.
Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
