SLT Minutes—March 23, 2012
· Approval of last meeting.
· Review of SIP mrs d asked if there were any questions or concerns. None were mentioned.
· Technology update after meeting with grade chairs. How it will impact bring your own technology to school , moving to iPads and away from smart boards, teams discussed having Elmo's and projectors. Several teams are writing tech grants, looking at training for Senteos, $1,600 est. looking at earmarking technology for fin run money. Moving from consumers of tech to producers. Smart Technology came to visit and observe our use of smart boards. Looking at variety of tech materials, not just iPads , wireless printers
· Green start energy program: water use per child, utilities, ranks schools, monitored, monthly energy newsletter, Pest control coordinator is O'Leary to earn stars, recycling with students. Assembly coming to discuss environment. Writing in fifth grade for argumentative concerning water bottles and landfills. 5th grade will integrate with recycling. City audits recycling programs at schools. Committee agreed to join green start program.
· Outdoor science lab previously told by cms that there were too many obstacles to overcome. So Mr. Lauman is asking about a closer location to school. Possibly having a fundraiser, or PTA funds? Mrs. Damare thinks we could create a science lab, we can contact Todd Sherrill. Mr. Lauman will spear head along with a committee. Discuss grants to help fund and Mr. Lauman may also talk with PTA exec. Board to earmark monies for next year.
· Mrs. Damare suggested having SLT elections in the spring instead of in the fall. Teachers and parents on team with equal numbers to balance. Mrs. Damare would like to send out information after spring break. Term is 1-3 years. Parents discussed staying on for two years with the option of staying g for a third. There is no state statute re term limits.
· Mrs. Damare mentioned school breaking in cars. Get the word out. Tell teams and parents and neighborhoods to be alerted.
