Summary of Role / Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Commercial Team will provide commercial services to provide a minimal surplus, to help fund and support the provision of activities to enhance the unforgettable experience for the young people
  • Support Team Leaders in delivery of their outlet or offer, including pricing and purchase of stock in conjunction with the Commercial Team Leader, Compliance Team Leader, Logistics Team Leader and Finance Team Leader.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Be responsible for the financial arrangements of the Procurement team.
  • Attend Commercial Team meetings prior to camp and provide reports and progress updates where requested.
  • Assist the Commercial Team Leader in recruiting and appointing a deputy.
  • Work fully in conjunction with your team deputy to ensure delivery of the Procurement taking into consideration either party being unable to fulfil their role before or during camp.
  • Whist some expenses are inevitable and acceptable Team Leaders are asked to proactively manage these as they are offset against the surplus we are aiming to provide.
Previous Experience Requirements:
  • The Procurement Team Leader should have experience of managing and working with volunteers, ideally within Scouting or Guiding or other similar voluntary organisations.
  • The Procurement Team Leaders should ideally have experience of large scale Scouting or Guiding events, either as a participant or staff member.
  • Direct experience relevant to the role would be advantageous.

Responsibilities / Specific Role Description:
  • Create a team structure in agreement with the Commercial Team Leader.
  • Complete any specific training requirements which are identified as being appropriate to your role.
  • Put in place, manage and direct rota's and staffing levels during camp.
  • Ensure team members complete any relevant required training.
  • Working with other Team Leaders ensure pricing complies with Commercial Team policies, in agreement with the Finance Team Leader.
  • Set up and maintain a system of procurement for none commercial team items.
  • Recruit and build your team (via the Poacher recruitment processes) prior to camp.
  • Create good, regular lines of communication with your team before during and after camp; disseminating information and dealing with team member queries promptly.
  • Hold regular team meetings and attend other Team’s meetings when requested, reporting back to Commercial Team Leader at Commercial Team meetings.
  • Support staff members including the under 18 “Camp Makers”
  • Be responsible for your budget and minimising all losses and waste.
