Called to order at 12:30pm by Sean Prather

1.  Welcome & Introductions

2.  Updates

a.  Summary of crimes: for the months of July, August and September 2013, the itemized list is attached. The events thus far have been in the normal range.

b.  Health Center Report Attached.

c.  Health Center report: The flu season is approaching the student health center have the flu vaccines available. The flu shots are free to students and available for staff at $5.00.

Planned Parenthood is no longer available on campus as of Fall 2013.

3.  CPR and first aid for staff has been offered in the past for district employees that are mandated to have this particular training. Many staff members have requested that a CPR and first aid training be offered for those staff that are not mandated to have this specified training. This request has been relayed to the appropriate district personnel. At this time no further information is available.

4.  Updating the College’s current smoking policy: Currently the college’s smoking policy reads, “In an effort to prevent the serious health risks associated with exposure to smoking and environmental tobacco smoke, faculty, staff, students and visitors at Las Positas College who choose to use tobacco products may do so in parking lots and designated areas only. Smoking is not permitted in any college-owned vehicle.”

This policy is outdated as it does not address the use of electronic cigarettes usage on campus or other tobacco products.

5.  Public Safety training Institute: This is a four hour program that addresses active shooter scenarios. It will be brought to the Las Positas Campus at no charge because of a grant. This program is open to all staff so please do attend.

6.  Next meeting will be held on November 18, 12:30 pm, Room 2411 A

7.  Roundtable: A committee member suggested a need for a second exit out of room 1725 the Campus Safety office.
