A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO WELCOME HOME THE MEN AND WOMEN OF CHARLIE BATTERY 3RD BATTALION, 178TH FIELD ARTILLERY OF HARTSVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA FROM THEIR TOUR OF DUTY IN IRAQ AND TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST RESPECT AND ADMIRATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THESE SOLDIERS FOR THEIR COURAGE, BRAVERY, AND THE MANY SACRIFICES THEY HAVE MADE IN THEIR SERVICE TO OUR NATION AND THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ.
Whereas, the brave women and men of Charlie Battery 3rd Battalion, 178th Field Artillery from Hartsville, South Carolina have returned home from a year’s tour of duty in Iraq; and
Whereas, these soldiers, as well as their families and friends, have made great sacrifices and have endured many hardships in their service to this country and in their efforts to free the people of Iraq from tyranny; and
Whereas, these men and women fought with valor and great spirit of determination and pride for their country and to help bring democracy to Iraq, the successful beginning of which was truly apparent in the overwhelming turn out in the January elections in Iraq; and
Whereas, these courageous South Carolina Army National Guard troops have conducted themselves with unyielding loyalty and dedication to the United States of America during Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are most proud to have the opportunity to recognize these outstanding women and men and on behalf of all South Carolinians to welcome them home and express the deepest gratitude to them. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, welcome home the men and women of Charlie Battery 3rd Battalion, 178th Field Artillery of Hartsville, South Carolina from their tour of duty in Iraq and to express the deepest respect and admiration of the members of the South Carolina General Assembly to these soldiers for their courage, bravery, and the many sacrifices they have made in their service to our nation and the people of Iraq.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Charlie Battery 3rd Battalion, 178th Field Artillery of Hartsville, South Carolina.
