STEP 2: Once you are logged in, you will be immediately taken to the Grades and Attendance screen. Here, you will be able to see attendance for the last two weeks as well as recent grades.

Common abbreviations for attendance codes are at the bottom of the Grades and Attendance screen. The little “dots” in the rest of the boxes indicate that the class does not meet on that given day.

STEP 3: Look at the grades. There will be a number representing a percentage grade basedon assessment testing. Click on the grade for that subject to get more detailed information (and moregrades from various assignments). For specifics on grading information, please follow the Communication Guidelines document.

E-mailing the teacher: If you have an e-mail program installed on your computer, you can click thename of the teacher (in blue) and send an e-mail directly to the teacher. This WILL NOT work correctly ifyou are accessing PowerSchool on a public computer, which will typically NOT have e-mail set up.

What will PowerSchool allow me to see from home?

What grades will I be able to see?

Will I still get a “regular” report card from my child’s school?

No. Hardcopies of report cards are available upon request.

What if I lose my password?

If your password is lost or misplaced, please contact your child’s school. A designated staff member will have the ability to generate a new parent letter, which includes login/password information. These letters will be mailed home via US Mail. Please note that login/password information will NOT be given out over the telephone.

Can I set something up to automatically e-mail me my child’s grades?

Yes. Click on the Email Notification link for more information.

I don’t understand the grades that have been entered and I have questions. Who do I contact?

Please follow the procedure indicated in the Communication Guidelines.

What if I don’t have a computer at home?

PowerSchool can be accessed anywhere there is internet access. Computers are also available to the public at no charge, at public libraries.

I know that my son had a test at 10:00am today, and it’s now 1:30pm, but I still can’t see his grade. Why not?

It is important to understand that any grade or attendance information will only be available after it has been entered by a staff member at the school. Furthermore, please note that the teaching staff will update student information approximately every ten days. Student work will be returned to your child before the grades for the assessments are posted.

When a concern arises about an attendance record that appears in PowerSchool, we ask that you follow these steps:

  1. Talk with your child first. Ask them about their attendance before contacting the school.
  2. If there is still a discrepancy, please contact the appropriate school office through email or at the following number 908-889-8288:

When a concern arises about a grade that appears in PowerSchool we ask that you follow these steps:

  1. Talk with your child first. Ask them about their grade(s) before contacting the school.
  2. Review the course grading philosophy/system of the teacher. This may answer the question of why the student has received the grade or explain how the assignments add up to the current average.
  3. Check to see if there is an assignment description. In the Class Score Detail page if the assignment is listed in blue, you can click on the link for more detailed information. This may help to clarify what was involved or expected for a particular assignment.
  4. Check the date of the assignment. An assignment handed in late may receive deductions from its score.
  5. Realizing that no system is perfect, if a discrepancy is found please send one email to the attention of the teacher. We are all working together to achieve the highest level of consistency and accuracy possible. Please be patient as the UCVTS continues with developing this system to be the best it can be.
