Job:Community and Events Fundraiser
Hours:37 hours per week
Reporting to:Marketing & Development Manager
Contract:Fixed term contract until 31st March 2017, with further funding anticipated
Place of work:Hatfield, will include travel
Salary:£19,000 - £22,400 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum pro rata increasing by one day a year after 5 years service to a maximum of 28 days
Benefits: From the 1st October 2014 hyh will operate a pension scheme with The Pension People in the name of the staff member. The basic scheme is for to hyh contribute 3% of basic salary for all staff on permanent contract.
Staff eligible to join the scheme after 1st October 2014 will be automatically joined into the scheme at the 3% of basic salary at the earliest moment, a decision to undertake personal contributions is not necessary when joining the basic scheme. Once in the scheme, staff can elect to make personal contribution to the scheme via a payroll deduction, personal contributions are matched up to a further 3% by hyh. Personal contributions above 3% are not matched.
Other benefits:hyh operates a Group Life Insure Scheme based for staff on contracts longer than six months based on 4 times Salary via FriendsLife. Entry to the scheme is automatic on joining the charity; completion of a nomination form is required to confirm staff wishes to the trustees.
Purpose of the job:
The Community & Events Fundraiser will help to achieve budgeted income for hyh by raising funds from the community through the administration and delivery of our growing communityevents, andco-ordinating community fundraising initiatives and corporate support. In addition, to increase awareness ofhyh and its services through profile and awareness raising.
Mainduties and responsibilities
Fundraising / Events / Corporates:
- Work closely with MarketingManager to define and grow hyh’s fundraising presence within the community.
- Act as a community liaison to provide support to groupsthat are raising money for hyh. Build relationships with local community groups, local companies and individual supporters and provide talks where possible to encourage their support and adoption of hyh.
- Support Marketing Manager to develop new local contacts with individuals and companies ensuring we grow our community network.
- Co-ordinate and administer fundraising activities including supporting ‘Friends of’ Group and internal ‘Events Team’.
- Identify, develop and support key hyh events, including promotion, sponsorship, sourcing prizes, organising teams and general running on the day.
- Take part in and promote hyh at local / national events.
- To take an active role in the preparation of annual plans, utilising experience and past results to inform recommendations and the preparation and creation of detailed activity plans.
- Attend community presentations to collect cheques, raise awareness and give thank you speeches.
- Ensure volunteers are fully integrated and supported within the team.
Marketing & Communications:
- To act as the first point of contact for incoming fundraising enquiries and activities.
- To promote hyh in line with brand and communication guidelines.
- Maintain good working relationships with external agencies.
- Co-ordinate items of print and production of printed collateral including initial concept, design, copy, estimates and final print.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to plan and co-ordinate and implement direct mail activity.
- Produce and distribute monthly internal communication round-ups.
- Update and maintain communications plan.
- Ensure post-event tasks such as thank-you letters are completed promptly and appropriately, and our databases are kept fully up to date.
- Be an ambassador for the charity and speak on its behalf in public.
PR:
- Continue to build rapport with local/ national press.
- Progress proactive local PR and awareness raising, working closely with internal and external partners.
- Write and distribute press releases.
- Ensure all PR boards are kept up to date in all offices with relevant media.
Online:
- Support the MarketingManager to implement online related activity/ initiatives.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to continue the on-going development and maintenance of new interactive website.
- Act as social media representation and ensure all channels are continuously updated with relevant news. Actively research new opportunities to enhance social media platforms.
- Take responsibility for the administration of hyh’s ‘Giving’ accounts.
- Create and distribute quarterly newsletters for hyh supporters.
Misc:
- Support Marketing Manager to recruit marketing volunteers.
- Provide regular financial detail for the Marketing Manager in order to monitor income against budget.
- Attend training, one to one supervision and other meetings as appropriate.
- Present a positive and professional image at all times.

Person specification
Essential
- Proven experience of working in a community fundraising environment and/or event and marketing
- Experience of working and supporting local fundraising groups and event participants to deliver increased revenue
- Proven ability to engage, inspire and enthuse a range of supporters to raise funds and nurture relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with colleagues and represent hyh internally and externally at all levels
- A good level of literacy and numeracy with the ability to carry out administrative tasks as appropriate to the role.
- Ability to manage time effectively, demonstrate organisation skills and work to agreed objectives within specified deadlines.
- Confident at delivering presentations or talks to community audiences (groups and associations, universities, companies etc).
- Experience in planning and co-ordinating fundraising events in the community.
- Experience of using social media, and preferably Mail Chimp.
- Working knowledge of print and production processes.
- Experience of writing press releases.
- Experience in working effectively in a team
- Demonstrable commitment to inclusive working, ensuring equality and valuing diversity.
- Current driving licence and use of own car or motorbike for business purposes.
