The Court of Appeal is hearing three appeals dealing with relief from sanctions for a hearing on 16 and 17 June 2014.

The Master of the Rolls will be presiding.

The Master of the Rolls invites both the Law Society and the Bar Council to file written submissions by 4.30 pm 9 June 2014 addressing the general impact of the Court’s decision in Mitchell and News Group Newspapers Limited.

The Court also invites oral submissions, if so advised, from the Law Society and the Bar Council, limited to half and hour. It is hoped that one counsel could represent both the Law Society and the Bar Council.

The current time estimate is 2 days.

Counsel in all three cases and counsel instructed by the intervener(if any)should liaise and agree time allocation. A note of the agreed time allocation should by filed with the Civil Appeals Office by 4 pm on 11 June.
