Artists Residency Programme (ARP)
The Process Room
West Wing, First Floor Galleries, Irish Museum of Modern Art
The function of the Process Room is to reveal the processes in the creation, exhibition and consideration of contemporary art, which are often hidden from the public. The Process Room facilitates access to the ongoing practice of artists currently on residence at IMMA. This residency programme is located in the studios adjacent to the main Museum building where several studios are allocated to both national and international artists. The Process Room is used on a rotating basis and artists participating on ARP receive a two-week period to display their developing projects from their studio practice.
Kirstin Arndt
a wave length ahead
Tuesday 5 – Sunday 17 September ‘06
Kirstin Arndt’s works deal with the possibilities of being in time and space. Her works are temporary statements of analysis and research about different aspects of the entity of artworks. Arndt uses a wide variety of materials in her work usually reminiscent of construction materials and uses their form, colour, shape and texture to create boldly dramatic installations and compositions that display a sophisticated knowledge of line, surface, volume, space and time.
Arndt has divided her residency in two, initially coming during the month of November 2005 for a research visit, at this stage Arndt developed the initial concepts of the space and materials she would return to use, the Process Room displays the continuation of this process from the second stage of her residency.
Arndt is based in studio 14 from August – September. Arndt will participate in a discussion along with ARP participant Thessia Machado on Tuesday 26th September at 5.00pm at IMMA. The discussion will be chaired by Carissa Farrell, Visual Arts Officer, Draiocht.
