This programme enables students to explore the area of data science and analytics in depth to be operationally effective in this specialist field within a business context. The content emphasises practice (based on theory) which is underpinned through practical industry style projects and practice-based assessment tasks.
Practical projects provide an opportunity for applying specialist technical and business skills applied to a particular area of interest in data science. Working under the supervision of a professional University tutor you will be given the opportunity to plan and develop the full cycle of a project from inception to completion and delivery. Local businesses will be able to:
· Optimise their strategic, logistical and operational decision-making
· Start to create and develop their own Big Data analysis expertise
Who Should Attend?
The programme is suitable for candidates who have a strong mathematical background or business experience and who wish to shape their theoretical skills in a strong computational context geared towards today’s high demand for data analysis skilled graduates.

Format
The full-time programme is 2 days per week for 1 year. The part-time programme is 1 day per month over 2 years plus 10 days for project development. (N.B. These timetables may vary according to timetable constraints).
Fees
For full-time students, the cost of the programme is currently £8000 per student for 1 year. (Full-time students may qualify for a student loan depending on the length of their undergraduate degree course.)
For part-time students, the cost is currently £3000 per student per year over 2 years.
Entry requirements
Applicants should possess a minimum second-class honours degree which contains a significant mathematical component or have A level in Mathematics.
You should have a good standard of English, both written and oral. If your first language is not English, you should fulfil the University’s English language requirements (normally an IELTS score of 6.5).
