JS lifts up His eyes to heaven – looking to God, seeking God, coming to God

Prayer – upward in direction, toward God 11:41

APP4US – we need to make sure we are looking to God and not praying

So that others hear us and think of us. JS cautioned in Mt 6:5-15

JS asks that His Father would glorify Him – begins with JS death complete w JS clothed w glory in splendor

The purpose of this ultimately is that through JS death God receive glory

APP4US – we can pray for ourselves, but we should follow JS example and not pray in a self seeking way. We should also desire God be glorified through all

The path to this request includes His death but it is ultimately in His return to heaven. The incarnation brought JS down to earth i.e. He gave up glory

The transfiguration gave us a glimpse of JS glorified. The Resurrection and ascension bring Him back to glory which He had before creation.
