Headlines / -show them a map about Europe – show them where we come from

-neighbourhood countries
-group-work: 7 groups (7 topics) – have to match the right pictures to the headline – focused on the country Austria – write down their answers (in numbers – numbers are on the edge of each picture) on a sheet of paper – each group has just one paper – we tell each group who is the “writer”
in the meantime – write on the blackboard – AUSTRIA + stick the Austrian flag onto the bb.
-one of us collects the topic sheets and we stick them on the bb – step by step
-e.g. Animals: who has got the pictures of the animals – group goes to the bb. stick the pictures on the bb. – we ask the others – do you agree? – each group
-at the end of the lesson they do get a paper with an overview about Austria / Get to know that Austria belongs to Europe
Get to know where the capital is
Chosen 7 because it is “the” psychological number
Group-work: because then the pupils can use their own mother tongue
Pictures: they get a visual input and they don’t have to understand the words
Numbers: we don’t have a language problem either because they do have the same numbers / At the end of the gw they can see their result on the bb
