Breakthrough Urban Ministries

Restoring the broken networks of youth and families in East Garfield Park

  1. Youth Basketball Tournament– Cheer on, celebrate, and throw a party for the players, and families participating at the basketball tournament
  • When – Saturday Morning Feb 1st(shifts from 7:30am -2:30pm)

  • What – making signs, cheering, hosting games and fun activities for elementary aged area kids

Chicago Hope Academy

A college and life preparatory school dedicated to nurturing and challenging the whole person – body, mind and spirit – to the glory of God

  1. School Maintenance and Prayer – help move CHA forward by doing some general maintenance and improvements to the building.
  • When – Any weeknight of Love Works Week
  • Where – Chicago Hope Academy – 2189 W. Bowler St. Chicago
  • What – maintenance, cleaning, inventory, painting and praying for the students of CHA

Caris

Creating a culture where Christians help both women and children thrive during and after an unplanned pregnancy

  1. Diaper and Clothing Drive – writing letters to new moms and packing welcome bags for new clients

Providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community

GO Project – the global orphan project

Transforming lives through orphan care

  1. Encouragement Letters – having children and families of Soul City create notes of encouragement to kids, teachers, and caregivers in Haiti
  • When – Saturday Feb 1st 10am – 1pm
  • Where – Soul City Church
  • What – drawing, writing, coloring and using art to encourage GO Projects teams in Haiti

Habitat for Humanity

Seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in Chicago and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action

  1. West Pullman Survey – participating in a door to door survey project so Habitat can better understand the needs of the W. Pullman neighborhood it serves.
  • When – Saturday Feb 1st(8:30am)
  • Where – The Lively Stone Apostolic Church of God – 622 W. 120th St.
  • What – after a training session we’ll go door to door asking residents of W. Pullman about their neighborhood and experience of living there

Salvation Army

Preaching the gospel of Jesus to meet human needs in His name without discrimination

  1. Mobile Feeding and Outreach – join the Salvation Army in reaching out to feeding and interacting with some of Chicago’s most marginalized

Brown Elementary

Giving students the tools they need to succeed technologically, economically and culturally.

  1. Art Wing Classroom renovation – renovating, equipping and updating 2 classrooms at Brown to make room for 2-D and 3-D art rooms.
