Job Title: Elementary Special Needs Coordinator
Accountable To: Children’s Ministry Associate Pastor
Status: Hourly
Part-time. Under 20 hrs/wk.
Job Titles Supervised: None
Purpose: To serve New Life Church by creating a fun and loving environment for the Special Needs Children in our Elementary department.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Communicate with parents as they drop off their special needs children at Sunday morning services.
· Communicate and check in with Room Coordinator.
· Assist in taking children to assigned classrooms for separate class and oversee children through the teaching.
· Design and Implement Classroom curriculum and activities.
· Worship with children and help them engage in service.
· Assist with Bathroom Breaks or Notify parents as needed.
· Safely transport children from one location to another depending on approved activity.
· Sit and play with children until they are picked up by their parents.
· Communicate with parents as needed during time of pick up.
· Assist in training volunteers.
· Communicate with volunteers throughout the week.
· Support New Life Church with your tithe.
· Attend regular Elementary staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
· Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment among our staff and complete the work necessary to fully serve and support the ministries and events of New Life Church.
· Cooperate with the Children’s Ministry Associate Pastor by performing any other duties when asked to do so.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma, State Teacher Certification with Education classes in Special Education.
Experience: Experience with special needs children.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Love for special needs children.
· Ability to understand the unique needs of special needs children and their families.
· Great leader. Excellent people skills with the ability to lead volunteers.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a wide age-range from children to adults.
· Ability to read and carry out written and oral instructions.
· Ability to verbally communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels.
· Personable and helpful attitude.
· Ability to handle constantly changing priorities and demands.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and to complete projects with little guidance.
· Able to work well under pressure.
· Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Experience with general office equipment such as scanners, copiers, calculators, fax machines, etc.
