Competition Regulations
1. Dates and Venue of Competitions
1.1 Dates:November 12-17
1.2 Venue:Tainan Harbor
2. Distances, Categories, and Classes
2.1 Distances:250m, 500m,and 800m
2.2 Categories:Men’s Open, Women, and Mixed
2.3 Classes:20,10,and 4 paddles
3. Crew Composition
3.1 20-paddler class crew should consist of 28 persons, including one team leader,
one coach, one drummer, one flagpuller, one steerer, three reserve paddlers, and twenty paddlers.
3.2 10-paddler class crew should consist of 17 persons, including one team leader,
one coach, one drummer, one flagpuller, one steerer, two reserve paddlers, and ten
paddlers.
3.3 4-paddler class crew should consist of 9 persons, including one team leader, one
coach, one drummer, one steerer, one reserve paddlers, and four paddlers.
3.4 At least 8 women paddlers should include in the 20-paddler class crew in mixed
category, and at least 4 women paddlers should include in the 10-paddler class
crew in mixed category also.
4. Eligibility of Crews
4.1 Ability to complete 200m swim with competition suit.
4.2 Team leader or Medical doctor’s approval of physically healthy.
5. Rules of Competition
5.1 Competition will be conducted under the Regulations and Rules of Racing set by
the Organizing Committee.
5.2 Dragon Boat (FRP),racing paddles, and other equipments will be provided by
the Organizing Committee.
5.3 All boats are unique in size, weight, dragonhead, dragon tail, and drum.
5.4 Umpires, referees, judges and times are appointed by CTDBA. An Arbitration
Commission has been set up for setting dispute, in cases it arises during the
competition.
5.5 In 4-paddler class, the drummer is also acted as flagpuller.
5.6 Competition adopts seated position paddling style. Time from start to flagpulling
is the team racing time. However, if team fails to pull the flag, the racing time will
then count from star to the dragon boat tail passing the finish line.
5.7 The ranks are determined in teams of heats, semifinal and final.
6. Awards
6.1 Trophy awards will be presented up to the sixth places.
6.2 The total result of each, Men’s Open, Women, and Mixed will be awarded USD
1000, USD 800, and USD 500 to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively.
7. Name Entries and Registrations
7.1 Please send named entry forms, brief team history, and two team photos before
September 25, 2003 to the following address.

7.2 Team registration date is November 12, 2003, and the departure date is
November 17, 2003.
7.3 Please inform us your arrival time, date, and flight number in order to pick your
team up at Taipei CKS International Airport or Kaoshong International Airport
before November 5, 2003.
7.4 Please bring your team flags for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
7.5 Please unify your team suit or uniform, traditional costume is welcome.
8. Fees
8.1 Fee for rooms, meals, and local transportation is USD 35 per person per day.
8.2 Expense before arrival and after departure including international airfare will be
on your own.
8.3 Team members exceed 28 person, arrival before November 12 and departure after
November 17 will be charged USD 70 per person per day.
8.4 Team members are strongly advised to take their own personal insurance policies,
as the Organizing Committee does not accept responsibilities for individual
medical, travel, or personal insurance.
8.5 Opening Ceremony will be held on November 13, 2003. Teams dressing with
traditional clothes are encouraged.
8.6 Celebration party ( Dragon Boat Night)will be held in the every of November
16, 2003.
Please be ready to present your team’s performance about three to five minutes in
length.
9. CTDBA will offer explanation concerning items not be listed above.
