P U R P O S E: Each year several Eagle Scouts from the Blackhawk Area Council are honored with the Wayne and Ruth Diehl Scholarship. This award is designed to aid Eagle Scouts from the council to prepare themselves educationally for their chosen life’s work.

This award is made possible by the generous gift of Wayne and Ruth Diehl for a Scholarship Trust Fund. Each year the interest earned is used for scholarships for outstanding Eagle Scouts who are completing high school or are already in college.

O B J E C T I V E S:

  1. To encourage Scouts to advance and attain the Eagle rank.
  2. To recognize outstanding Eagle Scouts.

3.To provide financial assistance for education or training beyond high school. This scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and/or other college expenses.

C R I T E R I A F O R S E L E C T I O N:

1.Must be a registered Eagle Scout in the Blackhawk Area Council at the time of application and receipt of award.

  1. Must be a high school senior or graduate.
  2. This is a one time non-renewable scholarship.

S E L E C T I O N P R O C E D U R E:

  1. Application must be submittedby January 6, 2014

2.Recipients will be recognized at the council’s Adult and Youth Recognition Dinner.

3. Awards will be in the amount of $1,000.00.

4.The number of scholarships presented will be determined by the funds available from the trust fund.

5.Applications should include letters of recommendation from:

a.Unit leader

b.Head of chartered organization

c.High school counselor

d.Employer
