Feature Presentations: Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egypt is considered one of the most intriguing ancient civilizations of the world. From the mysteries of the pyramids, to famous Pharaohs, to the hieroglyphics and mummifies, ancient Egypt has fascinated millions. But what factors led to the rise, stability and longevity of this civilization?

TASK

  • In groups of 3, students will study a specific aspect of Ancient Egypt
  • Groups will prepare a 20 minute presentation that consists of the following: powerpoint, student interactive activity and discussion time
  • Each group leader will be expected to present information, ask questions, and lead a discussion with the class and students are expected to participate in presentation
  • The presentation will occur over a week and should be supplemented with visuals / resources

TOPICS:

  • Daily Life, Gender Roles, Education
  • Religion: mummification, gods, Spirit of Dead, afterlife, Book of Dead
  • Pharaohs: Menes, Tuthmosis III, Akenaton, Djoser, Rames II, Khufu, Tutankhamen
  • Female Pharaohs: Nefertiti, Hatshepsut, Cleopatra
  • Economy, Trade, Alliances
  • Hieroglyphics, Art, Architecture
  • Geography, Nile and Military
  • Social Structure / Class Structure, Slavery
  • Moses and Exodus
  • Innovations, Science / Technology

The Feature Presentations will be scheduled during the week
