Report Dates:
First reported September 1999. Last updated September 16, 2000. This list is provided by the Koma Kulshan and Salal Chapters of the Washington Native Plant Society. Please visit the Salal website at http://www.wnps.org/salal to see additional regional plant lists.
Reported By:
1. Mitchell, H.G., September 1999. Summary of Salal Chapter field trip notes.
2. Hitchman, Marie and Mitchell, Harold G., August 7, 2000.
3. Duemmel, James, September 16, 2000. Summary of Koma Kulshan Chapter field trip notes.
Features:
This is a high altitude trail through forest and open areas. There are good views of U.S. and Canadian mountains and the Frasier River valley near the trail's end. This trail is not difficult, but is brushy in places. A scramble to a high point near the end of the trail is steep.
Directions:
From Highway 542 just past the Douglas Fir campground, take the Canyon Lake Road north. The road is blacktop for about 10 miles, then gravel until reaching the parking lot. Follow the trail signs to the Boundary Way trail. At the next “Y“ go right to Boundary way (left to Canyon Ridge).
Notes:
Unless otherwise noted, scientific names are from the latest PLANTS database, Version 3.0 (USDA, 1999) and the
Flora of North America (Morin, 1993) for ferns and allies. Common names are those used regionally, followed by
the reported common names in quotes, if different. Introduced plants are identified in Weinmann, 1999 and in the
PLANTS database. Weed status is from the 1999-2000 Washington State Noxious Weed List. The following
symbols and acronyms are used in this report:
= Alternate or reported scientific names, if different from those in the PLANTS database.
† Alternate scientific names also used in the Jepson Manual (Hickman, 1993).
