Welcome to the 93rd Annual Meeting of the
Society for Values in Higher Education
We are very excited about everything we have planned for this year. Hopefully, this information will help with your travel plans, arrival, and registration.
Simmons is located near a busy medical area; it can be crowded and extremely trafficky. Driving in Boston can be a challenge.
Simmons is divided into two campuses a Residence Campus and an Academic Campus, approximately 5 minutes apart. Our dorms, cafeteria, and some activities will be held on the Residence Campus.
Morning and afternoon meetings, the opening social and dinner and some other events will be on the Academic Campus. All locations will be clearly indicated in the program guide. Any changes will be posted.
Regardless of where you are staying, conference check in takes place at
Simmons College Residence Campus in Evans Hall.
Dorm and conference check-in is in Evans Hall on the Residence Campus from 1:00 to 5:00. Call 857-337-8035 if you arrive before 1:00pm or after 5:00pm and need to check into the dorm.

Driving/Taxi, etc
To get to the dorm, use this address for your GPS, or from the airport, give it to the the cab/Uber/shuttle/Lyft driver:

If you are driving, you can park temporarily in the Residence Campus parking lot (indicated on the map)to unload and check-in. The parking lot is accessed from Pilgrim Rd. You will be given a parking pass when you check-in. You will need to move your car to the School of Management parking garage on the Academic Campus, accessible off Avenue Louis Pasteur.
Subway stops near Simmons College include the Longwood stop on the Green Line, D Branch, Longwood Medical Area and Museum of Fine Arts stops on the Green Line, E branch. The Longwood stop on Green D line is closest to the Residence Campus. Tickets for the subway, known as Charlie Cards or Charlie Tickets can be purchased at most subway stops. You can use cash at above ground stops, but you must have exact change. If you are a smart phone user, there is an app you can use instead of purchasing tickets.
The dorms are suites, of varying configurations. Simmons provides a fitted and flat sheet, pillow, pillowcase, 2 towels, washcloth, soap, and cup.
If you wish to have a reading lamp or hangers, you will need to bring them.
Wednesday Schedule
We will open the meeting this year with a Social/Dinner before the Plenary. This event will begin at 5pm on the grounds of the Academic Campus. If the weather is unfavorable, it will be held in the School of Management. Dinner will NOT be in the cafeteria on Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s plenary, featuring Daniel McCarthy is on the Academic Campus in the Main College Building, C-103.
A social will follow immediately after.
Children’s Program
Those participating in the children’s program should bring appropriate clothes and footwear for walking around Boston. They should also bring a small bag they can take with them to hold a drink and snack. They will be taking the subway to some locations. We will have subway passes for those that need them. Children should be supervised in the dorm. Unfortunately, we do not have as many teen-agers as we have had the past few years.
VERY IMPORTANT-
To enter the Residence Campus after 10:00pm, you must use the gate at Simmons Hall, near the intersection of Brookline and Pilgrim Ave.
We will be charged $50 for lost keys and $25 for lost Access cards.
