As Director, Light Rail Transit (LRT) – Hurontario-Main, you will manage the delivery and implementation of the billion-dollar Hurontario-Main LRT project, including planning, design, procurement, engineering and construction through an Alternative Finance and Procurement (AFP) delivery method.Reporting to the VP of Rapid Transit Implementation, you will deliver the project from initial conception and procurement, through commissioning and transfer to Operations, within scope, on budget and on schedule, ensuring that good project management and construction practices, Metrolinx design standards, and applicable municipal, provincial and federal codes are followed at all times.
This senior leadership role will see you preparing and monitoring strategic goals and objectives, including engineering, reference design review, technical performance specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements.You’ll be in charge of planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of the LRT line, including project financial accountability, contract and schedule management, contractor adherence to reference designs and performance specifications, and support for program communications and intergovernmental relations during all stages of the project.
A creative thought leader, able to deploy a strategic vision and align projects with corporate goals, you bring to the role of Director of the Hurontario-Main LRT project a minimum of 15 years’ progressive experience in capital project management and implementation, including at least 5 years managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, preferably for Light Rail Transit (LRT).This will be backed by a degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario is an asset, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly desired.
Confident managing complex project issues and risks in an environment with competing priorities and often divergent expectations, you’ll facilitate conflict resolution while buildingproductive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.Your strengths as a project manager and coordinatorwill be evident as you provide senior leadership and oversight to staff and project teams within budget and schedule restraints, and monitor project performance against business objectives. This is an exciting mandate for a skilled communicator, negotiator and consensus builder who is prepared to manage a diverse group of project specialists and consultants to achieve measurable results.
