ARTICLE I
DEFINITIONS / ARTICLE I

ALL DEFINITION CHANGES BELOW WILL BE GLOBAL CHANGES IN ALL TABS OF BYLAWS
NEW DEFINITION / “Carolinas Medical Center” shall mean both the Carolinas Medical Center campus located at 1000 Blythe Boulevard, Charlotte, NC and the Carolinas Medical Center campus located at 2001 Vail Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
“CHS Hospitals” shall mean Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, Carolinas Medical Center-University and Carolinas Rehabilitation. / “CHS Hospitals” shall mean Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, Carolinas Medical Center-University and Carolinas Rehabilitation.
NEW DEFINTION / “Primary Campus” shall mean the Carolinas Medical Center campus at which Appointees to the Attending and Associate Classifications of the Medical Staff of Carolinas Medical Center have the greater number of patient encounters qualifying them in the Attending or Associate Classification, unless otherwise defined by Department policy and approved by the Facility Medical Executive Committee.
ARTICLE III - PART C: TERMS OF OFFICE

(1)The Nominating Committee shall prepare a slate of nominees for each office that is open. To the extent possible, the nominating committee shall ensure that the slate of nominees includes at least one member of the Medical Staff from each of the Carolinas Medical Center campuses (determined by Primary Campus criteria), provided that all nominees shall possessthe qualifications set forth in Part A., Section 2 of this Article.
ARTICLE IV - PART A:
SECTION 4. DEPARTMENT CHIEFS AND VICE-CHIEFS:
(a)The Chief and Vice-Chief of each department shall be Appointees to the Attending or Senior Attending Staff, unless otherwise provided for in the GENERAL PROVISIONS, and possess the qualifications set forth in Article III, Part A., Section 2 hereof. Such individuals must also be certified by the appropriate Specialty Board, unless waived by the Board.
(b)The Chief and Vice-Chief of each clinical department shall be elected by the members of that department or the Facility Medical Executive Committee of that department and subject to Board approval. The term of office of a Chief shall be for a period of two (2) years. The Chiefs of the departments of medical specialties shall be elected in odd numbered years and the Chiefs of the departments of surgical specialties shall be elected in even numbered years. / ARTICLE IV - PART A:

(e)The Senior Vice President of Education and Research shall report to the Facility Medical Executive Committee at least yearly concerning:
  1. the educational programs being offered at the Hospital;
  1. written descriptions of the role, responsibilities and patient care activities of the participants in the program;
  1. the safety and quality of patient care provided by the program participants;
  1. the related educational and supervisory needs of the participants in the professional graduate medical education programs; and
5. the delineation of who may write patient care orders, the circumstances under which they may do so and what entries, if any, must be countersigned by a faculty member, the patient’s attending staff physician or another appropriate licensed independent practitioner who is a member of the Medical Staff at the Hospital. This must be in conformance with the Rules and Regulations Section of the Bylaws of the Medical and Dental Staff on who may write medical orders. / ARTICLE IV - PART A:

(a)The CMC-C Medical Executive Committee shall consist of the President of the Medical Staff, the Past President of the Medical Staff and the Vice-President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville and Carolinas Medical Center-University as well as the President and the Vice-President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Rehabilitation. / ARTICLE V – PART B: CMC-C MEDICAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
SECTION 1. COMPOSITION:

A quorum shall consist of at least sixfive (65) voting members, including at least one (1) voting representative member from each of Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy,Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville and Carolinas Medical Center-University

SECTION 1. COMPOSITION:
(a)The CMC-C Credentials Committee shall consist of the following Medical Staff members:
(i)the Vice-President of Carolinas Medical Center;
(ii)the Vice-President of Carolinas Medical Center-University;
(iii)the Vice-President of Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy;
(iv)the Vice-President of Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville;
(v)the Medical Director of Carolinas Rehabilitation;
(vi)the CHS Senior Vice President of Education and Research;
(vii)six (6) at-large positions filled as follows:
  1. the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center shall appoint three (3) members;
  2. the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-University shall appoint one (1) member:
  3. the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy shall appoint one (1) member; and
  4. the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville shall appoint one (1) member.

(iii)(iv)the Vice-President of Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville;
(iv)(v)the Medical Director of Carolinas Rehabilitation;
(v)(vi)the CHS Senior Vice PresidentChief Academic Officer of Education and Research;
(vi)(vii)six (6)five (5)at-large positions filled as follows:
a.the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center shall appoint three (3) members, including at least one member from each of the Carolinas Medical Center campuses;
b.the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-University shall appoint one (1) member: ; and
c.the President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy shall appoint one (1) member; and

I.ADMISSION
3.Care of Unassigned Patients: Patients who are presenting for admission who have no attending Physician or Dentist shall be assigned to a member of the Active Staff in the department in which the condition of the patient indicates assignment. / I.ADMISSION

A Patient who presents for admission at a Carolinas Medical Center campus and who has an attending physician whose Primary Campus is the other Carolinas Medical Center campus may be considered “unassigned” for purposes of this section.
4.Emergency Department Call Roster: Each physician appointed to the Medical Staff of Carolinas Medical Center will be assigned Emergency Department call at their Primary Campus. A provider may elect to take call at both Carolinas Medical Center campuses, provided their call coverage obligations are met at their Primary Campus.
XI.HOUSE STAFF
The House Staff shall include fellows and residents as appointed through the Division of Education and Research of Carolinas Medical Center. These residents include residents employed by Carolinas Medical Center and those who have adjunct appointment to the House Staff.
Adjunct appointment allows approved residents from other institutions to act as residents under the direct supervision of Senior Attending, Attending and Associate members of the Medical Staff, the residency program directors, Chairmen, and the Senior Vice President for Education and Research. The duties of each member of the House Staff shall be specified by the designated supervisory Physicians and, when appropriate, the residency program directors and Chairmen of the department to which they are assigned subject to approval by the Senior Vice president for Education and Research. / XI.HOUSE STAFF

The CMC-C Allied Health Review Committee shall be multi-disciplinary, consisting of nine voting members. The members shall be appointed as follows:
(a)The President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center shall appoint one Physician and one Allied Health Professional;
(b)The President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-University shall appoint one Physician and one Allied Health Professional;
(c)The President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy shall appoint one Physician and one Allied Health Professional;
(d)The President of the Medical Staff at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville shall appoint one Physician and one Allied Health Professional; and
