The house that Jah, Emperor Haile Selassie1stbuilt: Malachi: 3 v. 1, Isaiah 2 v. 2
The Words of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie 1st rang true on July 11, 2013, when He said in Eritrea 1953, quote “Christianity and Islam are not the only two religions in the world, there are others”. One of the “Others” is Ba Beta Kristiyan Haile Selassie 1st, the Church of Haile Selassie 1st. The legitimization of the Church of Haile Selassie 1st by the Jamaican Parliament has brought to light one of the sacred aim and objective spoken about by prophets and kings alike, who look forward for such a sight but die without a sight.A time when man will worship God in “Spirit and in truth”. John 4:23-24 {New International Version (NIV)} “23yet a time is coming and has now comewhen the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spiritand in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Let’s look at this statement and see where it applies to us today. The words say that yet a time is coming and has now come. This means that time he is speaking is now the 21st century. It says that the true worshipper will worship the father in spirit and in truth. So to answer this question the classic three applied questions come into play. “The who”,“what” and the“where”. When these three questions are applied to the statements a miraculous thing happens. Who are the true worshippers? The ones who will worship the father, who is the Father? The Father at the time of Joshua the Christ was hidden but now in our time He is revealed, Emperor Haile Selassie 1st. The “What”, is not shock but “what” is the philosophy of these worshippers? Answer they worship God as a man. The “Where” is the place where the worship takes place, Answer: at Ba Beta Kristiyan Haile Selassie 1st the Church of Haile Selassie 1st.
This class will take a look on the place 470 gates avenue, Brooklyn NY and some of the history and the future plans we have for the upkeep of it.
- The Church as an Institution.
An Institution is an Organization or establishes foundation, society or the like, devoted to the promotion of a particular program, especially one of public, educational or charitable character.
- A building devoted to such a work
- A public or private place for the care or confinement of inmates especially mental patients and other disability and the handicapped persons.
The Church of Haile Selassie 1st is an institution that is responsible for the organization of the Rastafarian people worldwide. The foundation was established in 1987 by the Abuna Ammanuel Foxe and other brethrens in Jamaica. In 1992 the Church was the Church was licensed by the State of NY to Organize and preach Emperor Haile Selassie 1st to the NY state prisoners and with the goodness of Jah extended to the civilian population. The development of the Church in America and England was a big step for Rastafarian worldwide but was blind to many rastas because of sentiments. Example, they would have to leave from the notion that the Trinity are three individual persons or that the color of the flag are red, gold and green. The establish world however, would at times question the authenticity of the religion because of Rastas are heterogeneous and the fact that Jamaica the land of its originality it was not recognized.
All this came to an end July 11th 2013 when the Jamaican Parliament officially made the Church of Haile Selassie 1st an Act of Parliament by incorporating the Church {Isaiah 2v.2}. This act, to Rastas, is like the 325 AD Nicaea Conference that legitimized Christianity.
Words of gratitude cannot explain the hard work and dedication put in by the Abuna and others, that all religions of the world take thousands of years to be established, yet it took Rastafarians from 1916 to 2013, less than a hundred to reach that stage making the faith real and flourishing in the 21st century. This act of parliament will ensure that the name of Emperor Haile Selassie 1st will be praise forever and people will be blessing in him: Psalms 72. The Significance of what the Abuna and other brethrens have done is like on to the miracles of Joshua the Christ in the days of the occupation by Rome.
Now what are our roles?
Revelation; 3 V. 10 – 13 speaks of the quote “the Pillars”. The Abuna and the brethrens of their generation have done their part to bring the faith to this point now it is our turn. Seeing that most of the work is already done by the Abuna what is left for us to do is as follows:
- The upkeep of the Church.
- Building renovation services
- Dues payments
- Monetary appreciation for the work the Abuna has done.
- Put a man in parliament.
The upkeep and the renovation of the church will require skill person and labors to organize on a day in the week, of their choice, to do the work.
The dues payments are critical for the church to pay its bills. This one of greatest problem we have and yet the bible warns us of this. The curse of not paying dues: Malachi 3: 7 – 9 7even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith theLordof hosts. But ye said, wherein shall we return?
8Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? in tithes and offerings.
9Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
If we fail in this endeavor then we will be inflicted with this curse as Malachi said.
The monetary advance also comes under the contribution from the members of the Church of Haile Selassie 1st, as appreciation for that Abuna has done for our well being.
To put a man in the Jamaican Parliament to agitate for our rights is the last thing for Rastafarian to do in this century. The active participation of all is needed to get the voice out in the wilderness and to write letters and make broadcasts to ensure that the aims and objective of the Rastafarians of the hungry be feed, the homeless sheltered and the needy care for is not but an illusion.
Blessed be Jah, Negus Rastafari, Emperor Haile Selassie 1st, Liveth.
