2018 Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC) Research Conference Application
Hello Honors Program students,
Thank you for your interest in the 18th Annual HTCC Research Conference. Students interested in presenting at this year’s conference must complete the following application and submit it to the Director of the Honors Program, Nadine Bermudez, by Monday, December18th by 5:00pm. All submissions require a presentation title, a 250-word proposal abstract, a 25-word proposal description and four citations. Students must further provide the name of the professor who assigned, evaluated and/or reviewed the research paper/project, and the name of the professor who will serve as your mentor during the research conference process(This may or may not be the same professor, depending on individual circumstances).If you have questions or require further information about the conference or the application, please contact Dr. Bermudez at or visit the HTCC website.

All mentors are required to review and approve student’s abstracts and applications. Mentors are not required to attend the conference, but are welcome to do so.

Abstract Submission
Please visit the HTCC website for further information about how to write an abstract, proposal description and cite. Samples of each are available to review at the HTCC website.
- Please write a required 250-word proposal abstract.
- Please write a required 25-word proposal description.
- Please list 4 citations.
Citations should includethe top four academic sources consulted for your paper/project in the appropriate format according to discipline norms (e.g. MLA or APA).
- Please indicate the type of presentation to which you plan to participate:

All applications must be emailed to Dr. Bermudez by Monday, December 18th by 5:00pm.No late applications will be accepted!Please know that applying to the research conference does not guarantee a student’s submission will be accepted. All submissions are subject to review.
Additional Information
Registration: the HTCC Research Conference will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 8:00-5:00pm at UC, Irvine. Student registration fees will be paid for by the East Los Angeles College Honors Program, but students must provide their own transpiration and must submit the paperwork required to participate in a LACCD excursion. The required paperwork will be provided to students weeks in advance and must be returned in a timely manner. Please note that if a students’ submission is accepted, he/she must attend the duration of the conference. Lunch will be provided. Please visit the HTCC website for further information.
Scholarships: the HTCC Research Conference grants several scholarships to students who participate. Information on applying for a scholarship is available at the HTCC website. Scholarships applications are due in March, 2018. Students will be notified of the scholarship application due date in the weeks leading up to the conference.
