Step 1: Adding Search Categories

1.  Access iPac Administration tool (http://ipacaddress/sa_tools/admin/customize.jsp)

2.  Click the Customize tab.

3.  Click the Interface sub-tab.

4.  Click the Search Categories option.

5.  Click on the option to Add a Root Category.

6.  Enter the Title for the search category. For example: American Literature.

7.  Enter the Long Description for the search category.

8.  Enter the URL type:

Open Sub-Categories – Use this to have another search category under this search category.

Perform an iPac 2.0 search – Use this if you want to perform and iPac search.

Open a Full URL – Use this to open a webpage.

9.  If you chose to Perform an iPac 2.0 search in #8, skip to #18 for

instructions on how to enter the URL search.

10.  Enter Image Path, if you want to display an image next to the search

category. You can leave this blank if you do not want an image.

11.  Enter the Number of Columns you want to display on the category search

page.

12.  Click OK to save.

13.  Click on the option to Edit Sub-Categories.

14.  Click on Add Search Category.

15.  Enter the Title of the sub-category. For example: Women Authors.

16.  Enter the Description. For example: Search for Women Authors.

17.  Enter the URL type. In this case, the URL type will perform a search in iPac.

18.  Enter the URL. To get the URL:

a.  Access your iPac searching website (http://ipacaddress/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=).

b.  Perform the search in iPac. For example in this case, a subject keyword search on american literature women authors was done. You can do any search to get the results for your category.

c.  In the address of your browser window, highlight and copy everything after the session number.

d.  Paste the URL into the URL box.

19.  Enter the Image Path.

20.  Enter the Number of Columns.

21.  Click OK to save.

22.  Repeat above Steps to add more search sub-categories and root search categories. In this example, two root search categories were added (American

Literature and American Poetry) and each root search category had two

sub-categories which would perform the iPac 2.0 search.

American Literature

Women Authors

Indian Authors

American Poetry

Women Authors

20th Century Authors

Step 2: Adding Search Category Groups

1. Click the Customize tab.

2.  Click the Interface sub-tab.

3.  Click the Search Category Groups option.

4.  Click on option to add a Group Category.

5. Enter the Description of the root category group. For example: Literature

6. Enter the iPac 2.0 Base URL. For example: http://localhost/ipac20/ipac.jsp

7. Click OK.

8.  Click on option to Add Root Category. * This will show you the search categories created in STEP 1 – Adding Search Categories.

9.  Click Add next to each root search category you would like to add to the category group. Think of the category group like a “header” for the root search categories and sub-categories.

10.  Click OK after each Add.

11.  Record the Number next to the category group. This will be used to add a

page in Step 3 – when setting up the Additional Parameter.

12. Click on Customize tab, then click Restart Jboss.

Step 3: Adding a Tab

1.  Click on the Customize tab.

2.  Click on Interface option.

3.  Click on Tabsets option.

4.  Click on the tabset you want to update. If you only have the default tabset, you will want to make a copy and rename.

5.  Click on Add Tab.

6.  Enter the Name of the Tab Information.

7.  Enter the Hover-Text. Hover-Text is what appears when your mouse is on the tab.

8.  Choose the color of your tab.

9.  Click Next.

10.  Select the tab type. Click on the category radial.

11.  Click Next and click OK.

12.  Enter the Sub-Tab Information.

13.  Enter Hover-Text.

14.  Select Category from the drop down. If the main tab for this subtab was not a Category type tab. Category will not be an option.

15.  Enter the Title. This displays on the tan bar.

16.  Enter the Description. For example: Click on below links for quick searches.

17.  Enter the Additional Parameter. For example : &catdeepnum=15

18.  Click OK.

19.  You may want to add more sub-tabs or click DONE.

20.  Click DONE.

21.  Click Customize and click on option to Restart Jboss..

22.  Your are finished! Here is the end result.
