Northwestern University Staff Sustained Dialogue (SD)
Participant Application
What is SD?
Sustained Dialogue isafive-stage social change process founded by Hal Saunders (former US diplomat and key drafter of the Camp David Peace Accords). It was adapted by Princeton students 12 years ago and is now used at 27 campuses by students, faculty, and staff. Faculty and staff across the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network engage in dialogue to remove silos, build relationships, and engage more effectively. Participants transform relationships around topics such as race, class, gender, faith, and sexual orientation, and simultaneously address pressing needs in their communities.
Goals for the pilot:
To incorporate staff dialogues across both Evanston and Chicago campuses as an opportunity for staff to build relationships across schools.
Expectations for Moderators:
Moderators commit to attending moderator training currently (Dates TBD), and leading the dialogue sessions. Dialogue sessions will take place for one hour every week for ten weeks. Moderators also commit to spending time planning to lead each dialogue with their co-moderator as well as debriefing with the program advisors.
Expectations for Participants:
Participants commit to attending an hour-long dialogue session every week for ten sessions – a total commitment of ten hours over 10 weeks. Participants agree to participate actively throughout the program.
